Hello,

Please see pictures below- do I understand correct that my stb (Dilog 250HD) is sending a wrong signal?

On the menu bar on the tv screen it reads '576i' (on the right) although on the settings menu of the stb it reads 1920x1080 interlaced (?)

TV image is very poor, so I am hoping that this can be fixed.

All help is appreciated.

I understand all this means that the program you are receiving is 576i, and the settings menu on the lower picture just changes what the STB sends to the TV over HDMI.

Thus, the picture is being upscaled by the STB which isn't going to make it any better. You can't make HD out of SD, or in more down to earth terms, you can't polish a turd... Upscaled SD is often a disappointment on HD TV sets.

To say something about the picture quality, you need to change to a channel that actually broadcasts proper HD material, I don't think SVT24 does.

And I don't think the Dilog has a very good scaler, just a simple software solution that dont try to enhance the picture in any way. I would think the BV10´s built in tuner makes a much better job.

If you dont have HD channels you can try and set your box to 720x576 progressive and see if the TV makes a better job at scaling to the native resolution.

Thanks for the input guys, i will try some (HD) channels - unfortunately I don't have that many since I have chosen the most basic subscription.

About Dilog, it is very very annoying that organization I rent from has a partnership with a TV-service provider that only has Dilog STB's.

I have changed stb three times now, the 1st one only had scart connection (HD tv wtf??). This is really a pain.

I wasn't aware that getting a decent signal-input would be such a hassle. I miss my MX honestly

Would it be possible that I have a tuner in my BV10? I believe it was optional? I have purchased the TV in Sweden in 2011

It always has some kind of a tuner, but I believe the HD tuner was an option. It also depends on how you receive your TV (satellite / cable / terrestrial).

Anyway, try Michael's suggestion of turning "down" the resolution the STB sends to the TV. That way the rest of the upscaling will be done in the Beovision, and I'm sure it does a better job at that than the STB.

1080i is the one of the weakest resolutions you can set your stb to.

Have you tryed 1080 progressiv 50Hz ? Works fine for for me.

Then you can buy a DVDO edge green scaler (4200:- på dustin.se) om du vill ha extremt bra tvbild . Detta är det enda alternativet om du vill få en bra tv-bild!

What network is your house connected to? I think you can buy another tuner that is not a Dilog if you want to.

Regarding 1080i I think that in some cases it is better to choose 720p since most TV-HD is sent in this format or 1080i. 1080p would be scaling up and if the box does a bad job it would just put more "smudgy" data into it.
