I have a mark1 beocom 6000.Danish model. Pyramid base is charging the phone, but I get line busy when I go to make a call. Using the correct three point wiring , but then it is going through an asdl to accomodate the TalkTalk modem.
Could the asdl be the problem. The internet is working fine. Or the phone wire?
Any suggestions
If you are getting "Line Busy" then the phone line is open.
You say you have connected the correct three wires, but you only need two which are pins 2 and 5 on the BT socket.
You also say it is going through an ADSL to accommodate the TalkTalk modem, Do you mean you have plugged your base into an analogue port on your router? If yes, then that is your problem..
Some routers do have analogue ports on them to allow you to use your analogue phone as an IP phone, BUT to use them you need a SIP account with company's like Sipgate
If you are connecting your base DIRECTLY to the phone line and NOT in the TalkTalk router then you do not have the correct plug connections.
If you use a standard RJ11 to BT cable then that will work correctly.

Hi Keith
Sorry not as techy as you
OK, I think you mean you are plugging it into a "Microfilter" like the one below.. Is that correct?
Thanks Keith
A microfilter. That's the one. 😉
Any thoughts Keith?
OK, that's good we now both know what we are talking about.
So, your TalkTalk modem/router is plugged into one socket of the Microfilter and your RJ11 to BT plug is in the other socket.
Based on the information you have provided I think the RJ11 to BT cable is the problem.
The small RJ11 plug needs to use pins 2 and 5. The numbers are counted from left to right.
Some of these cables only have two wires connect and not to pins 2 and 5
Your little black block where your RJ11 to bt cable plugs has wiring as below..
Have a look at the small plug at the end of the other end of the BT plug and note how many wires you can see?
So it is completely clear below is the wiring connections in the block.
You need to check the RJ11 plug which goes into the line connection has wires to pins 2 & 5
Some cables which look exactly the same have wires going to pins 3 & 4 If this is your case you will need to replace this cable.
Someone suggesting swopping the RJ11 to a crossover cable. Does that sound right. In the meantime I will look at the wires in more detail
The cable does not cross anything over, pin 2 & 5 in the small RJ11 plug goes to pins 2 & 5 in the BT plug.
If the small RJ11 plug only has two gold connectors next to each other in the middle, then you have the wrong cable.
Reckon this is the problem. 😉
