Hi, everyone,
I have the following question: I own a Beomaster 6500 with an integrated RIAA preamplifier. So I can connect a turntable to the phono input without a preamplifier built into the turntable. But where do I connect a turntable with an integrated preamplifier like the Beogram 6500? I could connect the Beogram 6500 to the AUX input. But can the Beogram also be remotely controlled via a Beolink 7000 or an MCP 5500?

You would use any of the Aux, TV, CD or Tape inputs.

But you will not be able to use remote control.
Your Beomaster 6500 must be fitted with the rare RIAA module which was an optional extra. Perhaps you could get it removed, as this would enable you to connect your BG to the phono input and use the remote.

It would be quite simply to get the RIAA module removed from the BM6500. There's a thread here that shows the module: https://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/p/7576/67190.aspx
But you would also have to re-connect the disconnected links on the pre-amp board - according to the service manual there are three cuts that would need bridging (L/R channel and datalink pin 7).
I think this would be worthwhile to allow remote control - you could even then sell the removed RIAA module!
I believe you could connect the Beogram 6500 turntable to the CD input. The CD source sends out the same datalink controls as the PHONO source. For example, I have two turntables connected to my BeoMaster 5500: one beogram is connected to PHONO and the other is connected to CD. I have full remote control of both turntables.

And be fair how often does one actually use a remote to start a record? I never leave my vinyl on the record player, so I have to place the record anyway. And that just for datalink?
