Managed to acquire a NOS MMC3 for a decent price and having installed it on my BG4500 it sounds very good.
I also have an MMC2 which I’ve sent off to Soundsmith for evaluation. The cantilever and stylus look perfect, but the sound isn’t very good.
Depending on what they say about the MMC2 I may end up plumping for a new SMMC1 or 2.
Question is, how good is the 1 vs 2 or should I just stick with the 3 ? Done many hrs reading and line contour (I.e SMMC1) looks to be the best solution, assuming azimuth is spot on. Can’t see azimuth being anything but perfect with a tangential tonearm ?
Would appreciate some real world feedback if anyone’s had 1 and 2 and or 3 ?
