Hi Beoworlders,
Here it is - the Beolab Penta vs Beolab 3000 sound test video! As requested, this YouTube video lets you hear the sound of these great speakers for yourself, plus it reveals a surprising secret to really unlock the potential of these classic Bang & Olufsen speakers https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OuMEpmDrx_k
Please let me know what you think?
Kind regards, Steve.

Thanks for your videos Steve. It’s always nice to see your passion. I’m sure making these takes a lot of effort. Just want to let you know your work is much appreciated.
I grew up with Pentas at home. Now, so many years later my parents are still enjoying them every single day.
Thanks Frederik!
Yes, it takes a lot of time and effort to make the videos, but I enjoy sharing my love for B&O. I'm really grateful for your kind feedback, this is the reason that I keep making videos!
Hi Steve,
As you may remember, I have had several pairs of Beolab Penta, Beolab 3000/4500 and my personal favourite Beolab 5000 in my time selling used B&O.
I have listened to your Youtube video comparison of Beolab Penta with Beolab 3000 and feel compelled to report that I was disappointed with the sound quality of the Penta in particular. The bass was overpowering and boomy to the extent that it was almost impossible to listen to the music. The Beolab 3000 sound quality was more acceptable but missing in mid detail.
Personally, i wouldn't buy either of them. Perhaps I was correct, all those years ago, to prefer the Beolab 5000!
By the way, I have gone from 3 pairs of Beolab 5000 with various B&O systems in my 5 bedroom bungalow to Shure SE535 3 way IEM's via Bluetooth to Dell XPS15 in my grannie annexe!!!
Regards Graham
Hi Graham,
Good to hear from you! The sound test is carried out within my workshop, not in a specialist anechoic chamber. This means that you do hear the room colouration and in particular this room has resonances around 70Hz that can make the bass seem a little more prominent than would usually be the case.
Beolab 5000 is certainly a great speaker, but I would still rate the Pentas above this personally. I love the fact that each B&O speaker model has its own character, allowing each of us to find our own favourite but all the while keeping the B&O personality.
