Curious from a quality of sound and feature perspective if there are major advantages of selecting a Beogram 6500/7000 series over Beogram 4000/4002/4004/6000 series. Note I am aware 6500/7000 have RIAA built in and the 4000's a re beloved design Icons.

I am putting together a few multi room music systems for my self and a family member using modern B&O speakers like BL 28's, BL18, BL17, BL8000's etc in conjunction with either Beosound 9000, Besosound 3000 or just standalone Besound Essence/Beosound core units. No video products the mix.

Appreciate all perspectives.

I think the main thing to consider is that the 4000/4002/4004 models simply sound better than the later linear tracking models like the 6500 and 7000.

To be honest, if you like the later looks but want better sound, I’d stick to the radial tracking models like the Beogram RX2, 1800, 2000 or 5000.

I’d be keen to understand why they sound better. Were there superior technical innovations that B&O abandoned in the later models?

Update: I just acquired a fully restored Beogram 4002 and a good condition Beogram 1900 and I now see what Adam means in his comments. These Beograms definitely have a very solid build and are different than the later models like the 5500, 6500 & 7000 in quality. They sound really good.
