Im sure I read a question you posted but I cannot find it now.

You plug the centre speaker into the rear of the bandwidth box. The 2 remaining leads go into speaker 2 over to the right side of the 5000 if you have it on its back. Blue to the left and red to the right.

Enjoy

Ah ok, the stereo width box !

Right, the centre speaker is plugged into the box and the two included cables are indeed plugged into the SPK2 sockets of the Beolab as Eddie says.

This is a copy-paste of the original manual.

CENTRE SPEAKER

The B & 0 Type 6006 Control Box for Stereo Width is designed for use when one or more centre speakers and stereo headphones are connected to the BEOLAB 5000.

The control box enables you to adjust your centre speaker so that the width of the "stereo picture" is either increased, or decreased. This way you can match the sound reproduction to acoustic conditions in the room, the location of the position with respect to the speakers, and your personal taste.

In Fig. 1, where the speakers are rather closely spaced, normal stereo reproduction will be obtained at the listening position shown. With wider spacing between the speakers (Fig. 2), there will be an audible "zero zone" at the same listening position - for example, an orchestra will seem to be split up into two groups. You can eliminate the zero zone by means of one or two centre speakers which should of course meet the same performance standards as the two speakers already provided.

The two cables of the control box should be connected to the jacks marked SPEAKERS 2, and the corresponding push-button on the front panel of the BEOLAB should be depressed.

NOTE

The CENTER jack should not be used.

If you wish to use only one centre speaker, you should plug it into the jack at the top (see Fig. 3). The plug should face as indicated on the right (4-8 ohms). You cannot damage the speaker or the set if you insert the plug the wrong way - all that happens is that the speaker does not operate.

If you wish to use two centre speakers you should plug them into the top jack and the bottom jack. The plugs should face as shown in the sketch (4 ohms).

You can now control your stereo sound picture. By turning the "Stereo Width" knob towards "Narrow" (see Fig. 4), you can make the sound picture "narrower"; if you turn the knob towards "Wide" the sound picture will become correspondingly "wider". You will be able to alter the sound picture as much or as little as you wish; the weakest effect is obtained with the knob in the 1 position; the 3 position is the maximum position, in the 0 position the speaker(s) is (are) turned off.

BEOVOX 3000 and BEOVOX 5000 speakers are recommended for use as centre speakers.

STEREO HEADPHONES

Headphones of impedance between 5 and 500 ohms should be connected to the PHONES jack on the control box. The centre speaker, if one is used, should be cut out by turning the knob to 0.

The control box should be connected to the BEOLAB as described in the preceding paragraph.

TECHNICAL DATA

Series resistor for centre speaker with stereo width knob at:

0 = ♾

1 = 20 ohms

2 = 10 ohms

3 = 5 ohms

Dimensions: Width 43 mm (1 11/16 in.)

 Height 94 mm (3 11/16 in.)

 Depth 150 mm (5 7/8 in.)
