Hello,

I have recently put together my dream system:

Beosystem 9500 + beogram 9500 + MMC4

They are currently connected to a pair of beolab 6000

My problem is that, while sound plays fine from the CD and the radio in the left and right channel, when I play an LP on the beogram 9500 - I only get sound from the right channel.

Your help would be immensely appreciated.

I have already tried changing cables, dipswitches on speakers, taking out and putting back the mmc4 cartridge, double checked connections etc.

All the best and happy holidays!

How old is the MMC-4 cartridge?
Do you have another MMC type cartridge you can try?
It is fairly common for the MMC cartridges to lose a channel with age.  The problem can be repaired by a cartridge restoration expert (FJS Tonabnehmer Service or Soundsmith).

Well I did buy the needle refurbished from a “reputable” dealer.

but inguess the best to do is try to get ahold if an mmc cartridge in Stockholm to try to verify it. Thanks for the advice!!

If the problem is the same with a replacement cartridge, check inside the Beograms DIN plug for a broken lead.

I had the same issue. It is a defective cartridge. I have an MMC4 just rebuilt from FJS (unused) available...in Stockholm!

Could also be a broken lead inside the carriage housing.
I have seen that a couple of times.
