The beosound core is excellent for music output in full digital format to the digital port of my old beolab 5 (using a spdif to digital coax converter, using synch cable and beolink cable).

I have been trying unsuccessfully to hook up theses beolab 5 to my 7.4.1 sound system as front right and left speakers.

I have tried to use the pre-out of my ampli (Sony str-za5000ES) with rca cables to the line-in port of the beolab 5, getting the sound but also a high hissing sound from both tweeters. Maybe both my beolab 5 have a line in damage ( both digital port work to perfection). Using this option, I need to change the options of the speaker when switching from the beosound core to thr preamp, not ideal.

second Option, which would be my preferred solution is to use a rca to 3.5mm adapter from the pre-amp to the beosound core. There is an option in the core to remove delay and to change the line in voltage (low, medium, high). I have tried medium and high without success. The speaker power up automatically as soon as sound from movies is process but there is no sound.

i have connected the pre-out of my ampli to beolab 8000 using a rca to beolink adapter and it work as expected.

Anyone have been successful in using the core  line in 3.5mm TRS adapter from a rca output of a pre amp of an amplifier?
