Hello!
My wife and I are getting rid of all smart and streaming devices...
Because of this, I am looking for a CRT Beovision (66cm/25"+, Ideally with wood panels), such as the LX4500 or 8800, or similar.
I am located in the states near Los Angeles but would be willing to even look into shipping internationally if I had to. Probably cost an arm and a leg, but I'm not sure if I will ever find it otherwise.
Am I crazy for even trying to find this? Should I just quit dreaming and move on to a different brand? Feel lost outside B&O!
Thanks so much for reading!
Joel
Give up. They are energy-wasting. Also ATSC converters give a tiny little slice of lo-res color in a black void. So I took my MX6000 to the recycling facility -- despite only its speakers needed re-coning plus "something" in the high-voltage section to repair. Nobody wanted to fix it, and soon there will be a huge fee to trash CRTs, so I did it sooner rather than later. Someone gifted me their ancient Sony LCD screen, which is now resting on top of the B&O swivel stand! Sorry to be so negative, but only with the best intentions -- any of the physical disc players look *much* better on my 1080p Sony than they ever did on the MX, especially thru the analog MacroVision-preventer box. The only way in which the MX was superior was in the bright sunlight (& reflected, i.e. coastal or pool, you LA denizen:-!) -- the older LCD screen works best in interior rooms.
Maybe learn how to configure your brand of residential gateway or router to prevent your devices from talking to the server once they are configured -- which you do at someone else's house/office, with one-time e-mail addresses -- and simply ignore the streaming features? Or just get an old Sony -- no apps in that vintage!
P.S. Rather than paying for overseas shipping for an analog TV, which is likely to end up damaged anyway, unlike the rest of us(A) you actually have B&O store(s) locally! They absolutely do not give their customers any trade-in on analog B&O televisions, but they will nevertheless have all the B&O upgrade business there is. So you might snag something from one of their customers: pay B&O's installer for professional removal & recycling at no charge to the customer, and give them a warm feeling they didn't have to trash something. Best wishes etc.
Thanks much for the reply! I do appreciate it, and I don't take it as you being negative at all. It's realistic and based on your experience, which I value.
I am a nerd Audiophile and wouldn't settle for less in quality, but when it comes to TV I really don't care all that much about the visual quality. As long as it's what I remember when I was a kid in the 80's, I'm ok. The audio will go through my system and that will sound nice. I think my MO of doing this is more important to me, and i'm willing to sacrifice in other ways, even if its more inconvenient, costs more to run, and a hassle in the end. I'm set for sure to be having a CRT tv and losing the LCD stuff. Either that, or no TV at all, which is a good option too. haha
I wrote here hoping to find someone like you I think, to pawn theirs off to and truly recycle it to me! haha.
I wrote TekMedia which is an authorized repair service. But maybe I'll check in with the B&O stores, that's a good idea, thanks!
Keep the faith - you will find it. Join the B&O FB pages and watch religiously and you will see one or two. If that doesn't work, try to get a friend in Germany to box up an old MX or something and send it to you via sea freight. Of course containers cost way more to ship nowadays that may need to be your absolute last resort!
I too don't care nearly as much as the next guy when it comes to video resolution. I'm in it for the design, joy of use and the epic engineering. None of the flat panel displays inspire me and as a result make decorating much more irritating.
When it comes to TVs, I was never happier than when I had a MK1 BV10-40 from 2018-2020. Those were the days.
My dream [CRT] BeoVision is the AV9000 without a doubt. One day I will have it.
Beo4 'til I die!
Here - found one near the bay by accident this morning.
I know it doesn't have wood panels per your preferred spec but here's a nice looking BV. Take a nice road trip this weekend and pick up an awesome machine. Bring a friend to help load and unload!
EDIT: Found a rad looking 32" model for less money.

Or do you still have an ancient VHS VCR?
Or do you plan to take out the tube and (re)play your favorite plays yourself?
You made me really curious!

The AV9000 would actually be the holy grail for me too man. Any of them that have the wooden doors. So awesome
I don't have facebook but I will get one, and join the B&O groups and did not know there was a marketplace! Thanks so much for the tip there.
Those Avant's look cool too! I wasn't looking for something with that high profile, cause it won't fit my space for it, but maybe I should rethink that! I wrote them to see if they are still there...
Really appreciate you looking and replying
Carolpa: aroomwithaview:My wife and I are getting rid of all smart and streaming devices...Right....... and you can still get analogue tv in LA? Or you're gonna connect devices to this analogue tv for streaming with all kind of connections and resolution-differences problems? Or do you still have an ancient VHS VCR? Or do you plan to take out the tube and (re)play your favorite plays yourself? You made me really curious!
I am not planning on getting cable at all or using any streaming devices. Even if it was still possible to get cable channels with an antennae, I wouldn't try.
I do not have a VCR but still have a small special VHS collection that I've kept over the years. I plan on getting a VCR to be able to play those when I want.
Mainly, I have a simple external hard drive media player with S-Video and RCA outputs. I have a huge collection of movies/tv shows on a hard drive that I play from. It will work perfect with a CRT tv, as it has in the past. The majority of things I watch were produced in 4:3 aspect ratio anyways, and don't make use of many new widescreen format/resolutions. In fact, the resolution-difference problems you are referring to, exist with my flat screens currently.
I'd gladly donate you my MX7000, if you didn't live so far away. Shipping it will be really expansive and I would be worried I didn't package it properly.
Vähintään yhdeksänkymmentä prosenttia suomalainen!

Aw thanks so much man!
Well it's only 88lbs! Haha
What if you didn't pack it? Drop it off, I'll pay for shipping service to pack it.
aroomwithaview: Thanks so much for both replies man! We sound on the same page :) The AV9000 would actually be the holy grail for me too man. Any of them that have the wooden doors. No problem! Happy to help a fellow BeoWorlder achieve their B&O CRT dreams
Keep your eyes peeled for the AV5 as well. That thing has popped up in the US as well. Nothing more rad in this universe than an orange AV5.

Beek for the win! This is what BeoWorld is all about right here
The MX7000 with a BeoCord VX underneath would be an awesome setup.
The weight of these old BV's is crazy. I tried to buy an AV9000 in Germany but couldn't lift it into my van which means I certainly couldn't have carried it up the 6 flights of stairs to my apartment.
Let me tell you about the MX7000 first:
My biggest issue is getting it to the shipping service, it won't fit in my car, but I will sort that one way or another.
