Hi,

I have just replaced the belts on my Beocord 2000 cassette player, but whilst doing so have unfortunately disconnected one of the earth wires. There are two earth wires, both joining at one of the screws that holds the front fascia plate in position. One wire goes to one of the screws that secures the tape player chassis, but the other one has become detached. Should be it soldered to one of the circuit boards?

Please do not direct me to the Service Manual circuit diagrams as my knowledge of electronics is very poor. A description or photograph would be far more useful.

Unfortunately I am unable to upload a photograph at the moment.

Thanks

I seem to remember it going to the slim bronze strip on top of the main chassis right side (under the secondary operation panel).
It grounds the metal lid through its hinge.

Martin,

Brilliant!

I did wonder about the bronze strip, and now that you have pointed me in the right direction I can just make out where the wire was previously soldered - underneath at the front end.

Many, many thanks.

Phil
