Hi, hopefully someone can advise me. I've been given a Beocenter 9500, which needs refurbishment.
Most bits work, however I noted the tape didn't, on investigation found the main flat belt had turned into a gelatinous mess...
After cleaning flywheel and pulleys, I thought a belt replacement would get it working again. Reading a few forums once belts are replaced advice is that all should freely turn. I'm sceptical as it seems to me that the tape mechanism might need timing...I'm experiencing resistance after a couple of turns of the secondary brass drive pulley.
With power on and tape in the solenoids click etc, and drive motor spins up but that's it...main drive just spins with no onward mechanism rotations.
Question is do I need to strip this right down and time the mechanism such as a video mechanism might need or is there something else I should look at...any thoughts appreciated...it'll be a shame to strip for parts if I cabpn avoid it.
