Hi there,

i got lucky and bought two Beomster 6000 4-Channel Tuner. They were both sold as non working but after opening them I quickly figured that they are easy to repair.

I almost got them fully working again and only have a few Questions where I need your support.

1. The belts for the Volume / Balance etc. Control

I bought new belts because some of the old ones broke. But I don't get how to change them. Iam now at this stage and got stuck on how to go on.

2. Cosmetic Changes

Due to the age of this fine product it has some signs of usage. Therefore i will try to get rid of some scratches in the plastic "display" with MicroMesh sandpaper. Has someone of you experinece in this?

More diffucult for me is how to make the aluminium look nice again. It has no scratches but you can see which buttons were pushed more often than others. I'm not sure if I use sandpaper i destroy the brushed look. Any Ideas on that?

I am glad for any Help!

Cheers

Quite a machine to fix! Have you got the service manual? It is on site along with a technical manual as well.

The buttons are a problem as the ones used most tend to go shiny. On the similar Beogram, I have used matt silver paint but this is not quite the original finish.

Hi Peter,
thank you for your Help.
As much as I appretiate the work you are doing here, I'm not able to spend $24 for a Membership only to get one service manual.
I totally understand that this is probably a fair price to someone who's profession it is to repair systems. But for me as a private person this is not worth it.
Thank you anyway!

I posted an in-depth description of how I polished my Beolab 4500 plexiglass panels last year:

and

I think the 6000 cover can be polished in the same way. My end result was 'practically as new'. I could have spent another 4 hrs to get it totally perfect, but my arm hurt...;-). Enjoy!

Some servicemanuals had the tool included in a small pocket.
If not, buy any 10mm spanner and grind its thickness down to suit.

No need for the spanner if you only want to replace the belts. I have replace belts on 11 BeoMaster 6000 quads without removing/loosening the potentiometers. There is just enough space between the back of the pots and the inner side of the plastic wheels for the belts to pass. Just a bit of positioning/pulling and good luck!
