Hi guys,

I have had my Beosound 9000 repaired (it was bought used, and in much worse condition than I could ever have imagined). Now it works, albeit not as well as I would have hoped. When it plays the CDs, there is a distinct scraping/humming sound from the mechanism which clouds the experience. Does anyone have some idea as to what this might be and if it's worth leaving it (again) to the service shop?

Are you sure the position screws is in the right place?

If they are, it is probably because the clamper needs hight adjustment OR it can be due to one of the early clamper types, that gets skewed when it gets hot, so it just barely touches the CD with the left side, making a scraping noise as you descripe.

Hi Casperl,

Well...think of me as an idiot.Big Smile..i.e. I would need some more clarification as to where do I find them, can I tinker with them myself and how will I know if the clamper is the old version? It does the sound instantly, so I guess it just might be an adjustment thing...

The position screws is located under the buttom to the right (opposite end of the connections).

They are hidden behind 2 round pieces of rubber. How they should be adjusted depends on how your BS9000 is placed. Is it on the wall (glass op/down?), on a stand or flat on a table?

If you tell me, i can tell you how they should be Smile

Thanks!

Well. Right now it's positioned horisontally (actually on the floor since it's doing this sound) but the intention is to have it on the wall (then also horisontally).  Smile

Ok.
When you have it flat on the floor, tilt it up, so you look at the back (glass facing up). Now the positions screws is located on your upper right.

When you take the rubberplugs out, you will see two "arrows" that can point in 4 different directions.

As long as you want it to play while being flat on the floor, the arrows have to face left (pointing on the connections in the opposite end).

When you have it on the wall horizontally (glass pointing down), the arrows have to point down. If it is on the wall horizontally with glass point up, the arrows will have to point up.

All of this can be done with a regular screwdriver.

Let me know if this helps you out Smile

So I tried again last night and YES it was just what the doctor ordered! Big Smile

Now all I have to do is to convince my partner that we actually DO need another piece of B&O art on our walls...Wink
