MAnge tak Frede,

This is exactly what I am looking for.

I actually have the project to remake such a box for my newly bought beolab / beomaster 5000 (missing the jack connector in particular...)

I have the project to remake this box for my newly bought beomaster / beolab 5000.

By the way, am I wrong or you are the peron here able to supply with spares for this system ? (feet, bulbs, etc...)?

Thanks again,

Florian

Thanks a lot Frede for your precious answers.

I decided to make it completely from scratch. I am still looking for a nice looking 7 positions selctor and the proper transformator (I a m not sure of the voltages both sides...)

I think I'll come back to you soon besause I have a couple of issues on my beolab 5000 that I want to fix, and I am looking for parts.

Talk to you soon,

Florian

Hello Frede,

After some other projects (non B&O, some recaps on a couple of kennies KA-4000 and 6000), I am back to my beloved beolab...

I gave a very close look to the scheme, and I still have questions about the way it works and how it should be wired to the system and the speakers...

As I am afraid of creating some short circuits, I want to be 100% sur of my mounting before plugging it.

Here are my questions :

About the jack connection first : can you confirm me that the transformer is here for isolation purposes only and that it's rate is 1:1 (any more specifications about it...??)

Secondly, about the center speaker... Here I am a bit confused...

If I refer to the original beolab 5000 manual, the box was supposed to be connected to the center channel only... Here we clearly see that it is powered by the Left and Right channels : ???

Last question : why are there 2 plugs out of the stereo box (inc one with a non usual DIN connector mixig the chanels....?) as it was supposed to be connected to the central spk only...??

Many thanks in advance for your kind attention,

Florian

Hello Florian,

(I have sent you this PM)

I have attached 2 files for you.

That should explain most of your questions.

There are 2 versions of the Stereo Spread Unit.

The transformer is there because of the special design of the Beolab 5000 output stages.

The center tab for speakers can give you 120 watt sinus – this is obtained by coupling the output stages in different phasing.

The results in another very important point – NEVER use a common ground for the output (speaker output ) of the Beolab – this will destroy the Beolab!

You need a common ground for a headphone then you need some isolation -> the transformer.

Thanks a lot Frede for your - as usual - helpful answers.

I figured the problem for the headphones, I wanted to be sure...

By the way, I did'nt received your message not here nor in the archive forum... Can you confirm me you sent it...?

Thanks again,

Florian
