Hi all

I have just bought my first bits of the beosystem 6500 in black and silver! But, I have a little problem.........and looking for some advice

firstly, I bought the MCP6500 too,  but it just keeps saying no contact, I'v tried my beolink 1 and my beo 4 remote but cannot get the cassette or amp to react to any operations.  Am I doing something wrong or is it faulty?

secondly, can I link it to my Beovision avant 32" DVD and my Beolab 3500 speakers?

Many thanks in advance

I'll go ahead and throw my hat in the ring until someone with more experience (embarrassing to say since I have a BM7000 myself) chimes in, but my understanding of the No Contact problem in many instances is that there are capacitors that have gone bad either inside the BeoMaster amp unit, or in the BeoLink 7000 remote control which I have. I do not know if the cap problem affects the MCP6500, however the fact that your BeoMaster is not responding to remote signals at all leads me to believe that there are faulty caps in the amp.

The other possibility, and this is where my knowledge is limited, is that these systems are designed to work with "link room" operation as well as having different option codes for IR interactivity. The option codes are designed to allow for multiple B&O equipment setups, though I don't know if the BM6500 had this.

Hopefully someone with more experience can chime in on the second (and first) part.

Have a look here and try the Option setting first using the Beo4: http://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/p/4987/44982.aspx#44982

And yes you can connect to your Avant and BL3500 - you will need a BeoLink converter type 1611 (converts MCL to ML) and the appropriate leads.
