Can anyone guide me through connecting Ipad to Avant?
I have connected a composite cable to a scart connector and I have selected CAMERA on the beo3. The Ipad app recognises the connection but nothing on the TV - What am I doing wrong - are there instructions somewhere ? You will need patience - I am not at all technical!
Hello and welcome to Beoworld ☀
'Camera' is the connection on top of the Avant, at the back of the display (might be hidden).
If you want to connect via scartadapter, you will have to assign the scartport in the menu to a command e.g. 'V.AUX'.
Greetings Millemissen
There is a tv - and there is a BV
Userguide:

big 'thanks' for the info. The 'Camera' option was proffered by my local B&O dealership, most frustrating when it didn't work
Can I push my luck and ask 'how do you assign a scart socket to the Beo4 controller". or will the television automatically switch to the Ipad scart when activated? I have tried reading the manuals but I am confused, something to do with age.
The Avant is a lovely television with a picture which I still think is better than modern HD.
Sorry - this is only described in the Reference Guide:
Depending on your version of the tv select:
'Menu' and then 4 (or 5) for the 'Connectionsmenu',
With 'left' and 'right' choose the socket you have connected the scartadapter to,
With 'up' and 'down' you can change the description of the port,
Depending on your Avant-version choose e.g. 'V.AUX' for it.
The 'V.AUX' command then has to be added from 'list',
Use this to activate the tv and opening the port.
Navigate on the iDevice (set soundoutput to max).
Enjoy.
Excellent - have you ever thought of writing instruction manuals.
I now have the Ipad Iphone linked to the Avant and have assigned the scart connection to the V.AUX VIA bEO4 I have wonderful sound but no video picture. The 'static' logo of apps and photographs appear so I suppose there is some block of the 'video'. But I am moving ever closer to achieving the link up, thank you so much for your 'simple' advice.
Regards,
Mike
Hi Mike, thanks for the 🌺
Connecting your iDevice via composite cable (the yellow one) won't give you a solide solution in the long run.
My advice is: opting for the AppleTV (Version 2 - used - will be fine).
For the connection you must use something like this:

Of course you will need a working wireless network, but most people with iDevices have that nowadays.
This way you can sit back in your armchair and beam sound and video to your Avant via AirPlay.
Feel free to ask again.
Being 'blind' to most things technical I didn't think I could stream to a CRT television. I now know different. I will purchase as you suggest will the picture quality be OK or should I just give in and buy a modern TV? The problem is that I so like the Avant with its excellent picture and sound
See it this way: if you like your Avant, keep it as long as you can - the sound is great and the picture ok.
It won't bring much selling nowadays!
According to other users you get a fairly nice picture on the Avant with the suggested solution.....
...but it can not compete with a modern FullHD tv (with the AppleTV3) of course.
If the option is a non- Bang & Olufsen tv, I would stick to the Avant!!!
If you want to upgrade to a better Bang & Olufsen tv, look for a BV7-40 from MK3 and upwards.
Or if you aren't stuck with the convervative Bang & Olufsen design, have a look at the B&O Play V1-40"
Unless you want to/can afford to go the whole way: buying a BV11 🔨
