What is the problem with Beogram 5000 (580x)when the lid does not want to stay in the down position? I've seen three or four of them in a short time with the same symptoms. Is something broken or is it a matter of an adjustment?

Is the small metal bracket for the magnet missing in the front/left lid corner ?
Magnet moving when you press OPEN ?

There is a magnet in the small square in  the aluminum top plate, and the perspex cover has a steel plate angle piece that connect to the magnet.

Magnet or steel angle may be missing, or the magnet sitting too  low.

Thank you Martin and Søren. Don’t sounds like something impossible to repair.

Martin: don't know. I have no Beogram 5000 of my own yet but have been looking a bit and it seems to be a common problem.

If the angle is missing or broken, see pic, if the magnet is too low or missing, check inside for loose magnet

Nice picture there, Søren!

...but if you decide to have the part made somewhere, note that the dimensions are actually millimeters, not Mexican Megameters! Laughing

(sorry Søren Stick out tongue )

Feel free to use the frozen Suomi millis, but they may turn up smallSmile

They do write mm like this, Mm. in Mexico, I dont know why, but somehow it goes automatic when I write dimensions. will try to remember next time.

Just teasing you of course - but I wouldn't have known that otherwise, so this is all useful Smile

Measurements were often abbreviated in funny ways over here up until the '50s or something, then all education agreed to use the international SI unit abbreviations.

You could try to hire him, but I'd imagine his finger would get tired at some point.  Unsure
