I recently bought a newly restored beogram 2200. It plays great, and auto-stops fine, however, if I press the stop button, it does not stop. Earlier I managed to make the pause button work, however, that too doesn't seem to work when I want it to. I also managed to make it stop by lifting the arm earlier, which made it wake up and stop as if i'd just pressed the button. The only other alternative seems to be moving the pick up to the very last seconds of the last track, making it auto stop, however that obviously is very tedious. I am a complete newcomer to this stuff, am I doing something wrong here?
Probably oxidized contacts. That's quite common for buttons that hasn't seen use for a long time.Excersize the buttons, press them several times, maybe a little bit harder than you normally would and/or takethe Beogram apart and clean the contacts.
