Hi,

Found a Beogram TX model 5651 in my basement, a long forgotten impulse buy from the early 2000's, when i felt i needed a tangential record player (still do) Big Smile
My questions are, is there any point in restoring this model ? Or should i look for a "better" Beogram tangential player ?

The TX looks great, buttons are good, display is OK, the lid has only a few nail-scratches and the deck and plate are impeccable.  The lid hinge has come off and the double sided tape is gone for the deck and the alu-lid. It plays fine, sound is great so i guess the stylus is too. It could probably use a new belt and maybe the 33 rpm is a fraction off, when starting up, probably related to the belt.
No big deal(s) for me though. It will be used to play my old LP's from the 70's and 80's, no high-end demands here.

What would you do, swap up or restore ? I'm living in Denmark, so getting a later model Beogram isn't that difficult.

Restore it!!!

A new belt - some double sided tape (and maybe some super-glue for the lid) -and You'll have a wonderful turntable Cool

Agree with Steffen, take a look here a lot worse than yours, get a new belt and give it a little TLC, adjust the 33 and 45 speed with a strobo disc and you are good to go, I didnt like mine too much to begin with, but now I use it nearly every day.

Re. the lid, the lid-clip looks to have been sitting on a tiny "crossbar" of sorts, but it's gone and the clip has no resistance, i.e. spring/something in the hinge has broken (maybe left inside).

Should i start e new thread for this, or have you maybe got an URL to a relevant post with a fix ?

Sounds and looks like a well known problem ?

Photos help us help you.

Soren can probably help identifying a missing part since he has a TX.

Yeah - thought so Smile

Here's a pic of the hinge. Something is either missing or has fallen down into the TX, so there is no spring function any more.
Plus the hinge has come off the lid, but i guess that's where the superglue comes into play.

My TX is a TX2, not the same, different dustcover and the tangential drive is different, but here a pic from the service manual, available onsite for silver and gold members, 004 is the shaft, 005 the hinge, 011 is a leafspring, hope this can help you

Sorry, Soren. I should remember you have a "2" since I've been trying to loan you a cartridge for like a year. :-)

Disassembled it, seems like the lid lock is completely gone.

All i found is a 10mm square alu thingy, not present in Sørens manual page. Btw i did find a complete service manual for the proper Tx, but it's exactly the same, at least regarding the lid and lock.
