Beolab 50, Beolab 8000 x 2, Beolab 4000 x 2, BeoSound Core, BeoSound 9000, BeoSound Century, BeoLit 15, BeoPlay A1, BeoPlay P2, BeoPlay H9 3rd Gen, BeoPlay H6, EarSet 3i, BeoVision Eclipse Gen 2 55", BeoPlay V1-40, BeoCom 6000 and so much else :)
Please be excited.... for next week.
BeoBoy68:There is nothing to be excited ! BeoLab 14 is a very conventional product.
I have seen the picture of the ugly M&M-candy-like satellites and a BeoLab 9-looking sub with the lens chopped off. I suppose BeoLab 14 will be a system powered thru the sub with all the built in amplifiers and passive satellites. And that there might be a system like it without the built in amplifiers. Can you confirm that?
BeoBoy68:Yes it is, I confirm.
Beosound Stage, Beovision 8-40, Beolit 20, Beosound Explore.
Tonker:It is, and the look like Polos not M&Ms. Beovision 10-46, Beolab 6000, Beovision 8-26, Beosound 8, Beocom 2, Beotime, a shed load of A8's and Form 2's. Beo 4's and a 6.
Please wait untill you have heard it before judging.
How the different version are connected, is still unknown, so please don't make any guesses....unless you have some inside details to reveal.
In the menu of the BV11 I just 'came across' today the BeoLab 14 is already mentioned - so everything is ready to go - a week from now!!!
N.B. A couple of days ago I spoke to a dealer who had heard the set - he was quite astonished how good it sounds.
Greetings Millemissen
There is a tv - and there is a BV

Please - Michael - tell us: have you already seen it then?

Yes but I cannot find the pictures any more. If I remember correctly the satellites was round with colored frets and a chrome frame around. And the sub was a Beolab 9-design with a flat top instead of the lins. I think the one on the picture was orange and white but I am not sure.
While looking for a picture I came across something different instead. A red BeoLab 5 with golden plates instead of aluminum color: 0fbb21320612a808f6c02bd1bd432f8d_w644.jpg

Ah I did not know that. I don't like them either :)
Michael:Yes but I cannot find the pictures any more.
As far as I remember, some month ago a German B&O dealer posted some pictures of a B&O prototype surround setup of satellite speakers plus subwoofer on his web-page.
These pictures have been discussed on beoworld. They have been removed after a few days ...

Michael, I think we know by now, how you feel about it..
Please notice who posted that picture on that page!!!
Still noone has seen the real BL14.4/14.5-set.
I - absolutely - will wait to judge 'till I have seen and heard it 'in the flesh'.
Feel free to be prejudiced, if you like.
Grrr! Millemissen

StUrrock:Shame the BL14 hasn't got playmaker built in, missed opportunity there.
While that could be slick for some folks, if they did, everyone who didn't want to stream directly to it would be complaining about how B&O were ripping them off by making them buy something they didn't need! Jeez, the thing isn't even out yet and y'all are slagging it, and you don't even know officially what it looks like! Besides, if they did that STB couldn't sell a bracket to hang the PM off the back, and Sounds Heavenly couldn't sell cables to it!
And who wants that big a sub? Hmmmm...tough question, maybe people who actually want decent bass? B&O woofers and subs already are smaller than just about anyone else's for the level of bass performance they get, it doesn't look big to me. I'd say it will probably turn out to be small for the kind of bass I would expect out of a Lab 9 based system.
I'm interested in what it turns out to be like in reality, the only question I would have is if B&O has come in late with a sub/sat system after demand for these things has peaked, but I assume their marketing must have some feedback from the dealers about what people want. Certainly it's part and parcel of the desire for attractive, minimally visually invasive audio gear. Lord knows it would be nice to see one of these kinds of systems well executed, just about no one else does, the Bose stuff is execrable. And in the new market of people not using audio systems like receivers or CD anymore, a system that connects to their TVs or to other stuff is a good idea. Be that a regular TV, or an Air Port Express, or an Oppo player, or whatever.

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus.
I am sure the technical (and hopefully pricing) reasons for having two variants will be revealed, but I do wish they had produced a single version that worked with either B&O or non-B&O TVs ... so the consumers have flexibility into the future ... including moving across to owning a B&O TV !!

Well, I have no idea about what the real configuration will be, but just guessing I'd say that the one designed to work with a B&O TV could forgo the surround sound circuitry if that's in the TV, and the center channel, which should make it a bit more affordable. But time will tell yes?
And everyone seems to be down on spheres, why? I like spherical speakers! Great cabinet shape for reduced diffraction effects, if you look at the plots of the effects of cabinet shape on frequency response in Martin Collum's High Performance Loudspeakers book, spheres look pretty darned good! It's just that large ones are a bit odd, you can get away with it on smaller satellites easier though.
In Dutch, but...

Perhaps but it doesnt have to be that large. As you said the other woofers are smaller. BeoLab 2 is very small. Perhaps it also includes an air purifier or something :D. HEPA-filter on the bass reflex port haha =)

I'm not down on the spheres. However, I am down on the fact that they are supposed to sit alongside my BV11 (and other B&O TVs), but they will ship in a host of colours which don't match the BV11 speaker fret.
I'm still lost why B&O have produced different coloured frets for the A8 (yellow, orange), A9 (dark blue, brown), but the BV11 ships with no yellow, orange, dark blue or brown frets. Why is there no consistency across the B&O palette?
I want my potential BL14 to be the same colour as the BV11 fret.
This is a bit daft isn't it. They make 2 flattish TV's, the 11/12-65 in black and silver.
They designed the Beolab 12-1/2/3 series to complement said TV's, and sell them in silver and white! They don't sell a white TV.
It can't be a black paint issue, because they have made a limited edition Beolab 5 in black.

OK, I can see that. Some people seemed to be upset that the speakers look like spheres and other makers use spheres too, over here it's primarily Gallo Acoustics that did that.I don't grok that reason for disliking them though. Given that B&O does a lot of colored speakers and grills, it's surprising they don't, yet, offer that but maybe give them time. I always wondered about the take rate on some of the odder colors.
I've got a couple of spherical metal housings that I think were used for either cameras or lights I picked up at an electronics surplus place a few years ago that I still plan on turning into a cabinet for a full range Tang Band driver, probably the 4 inch bamboo coned one with an aluminum phase plug. Will make a great set of computer speakers.
MartinW:Hi Moxxey, they do match the BV11 frets - our first batch arrived today with White, Black, Silver, Red and Blue frets all matching the Bv11 range. And the speakers are not spherical btw! They are much much better looking than that. I look forward to the launch on Wednesday and reading the BeoWorld feedback!

Which colours was already posted on April 30 here:

"And the speakers are not spherical btw!"
Maybe they look more like 'Dolly Parton' AKA Beosound 8/A8?
Floorstand, tablestand and wallbrackets for the 'satelites' avaible as options.
We'll soon see!

Ah ok. The photo we saw before had green, yellow, orange etc. I guess I just really miss the orange BV10 fret (which doesn't exist on the BV11)!
