I recently acquired a Beosound Overture 2300 unit, but it came without the Beolab speakers. The previous owner had intended to use it with headphones only (!), and my question is: Can the powerlink connector be used with any set of active loudspeakers? How to go about it? I have a number of out-of-date B&O amps and receivers, but this is my first system intended for active speakers, so I am a complete newbie in this situation. Any help?
You can use whatever B&O active speakers you can afford!
Regards Graham
Thanks.
I realize that any B&O active speaker setup would be fine, but my question was rather about active speakers of other manufacture. What would be needed in terms of connectors etc?
Besides, browsing through the forums I just came upon some posts about using the Avant TV in combination with the Overture (using the TV speakers?). I also have an Avant 28" (with VHS video tape) that could be put to better use if my Overture could be combined with it. I wasn't aware that this might be possible. Is it? How? I have two Beo 4 remotes, since both the Avant AND the Overture came with one.
Hi there,
that is very (!) easy to setup.
All you need is a MasterLink cable (either from your dealer or from Steve at Sounds Heavenly) to connect both. Turn off both devices, plug in the cable and turn on both again.
The Avant must be set to Video-Option 2, and the Ouverture to Audio-Option 0 - with the Beo4.
This way all sound comes from the tv speakers - just press the source button you need.
Greetings Millemissen
There is a tv - and there is a BV
Thanks! What a nice surprise, B&O are definitely in a world of their own!
Is it an Overture or a BC2300? - the latter definitely does not have a Masterlink socket, hence you would need a Beolink Converter and both Powerlink and Audio Aux Link cables also.
Thanks again! This time, though, I'm getting a little confused - there seem to have been any number of slightly different versions and updated models. But, as far as I can remember (at time of writing the set s at a different location than myself), I feel pretty certain that I didn't see anything that looked like a MasterLink connector. So I guess it's a BC2300. Maybe my setup combo won't be just as easy as I jumped to believe, but apparently still possible...Again, the world of B&O...
...and my very first HiFi system was a B&O (Beomaster 1400 with 2 Beovox 1500s), always thought I knew a little about them - obviously VERY little...:-)
Hi again,
so it is a BS2300!
Don't worry - just get the converter and the cables as Guy pointed out....and you are good to go.
In fact , it is quite easy - just set it up, and forget about it.
And enjoy the music!
