Hi
Just received a WD TV live.
Is there someone using already it with a b&o tv ?
A WD tv live can be compared to an apple tv.It uses wifi n, ethernet, dlna + app available for easy control.
Plays mkv, vob...
For just 80 euros, I found it more open and usefull than an apple tv.
4 beolab 5, beolab 9, beolab 10, beolab 5000, beolab 8000 mk2, beolab 6002, beolab 3500, beovision 7 55 mk2, 2 beovision 11 46 mk4, beotime, beosound ouverture, beosound essence, beoplay A8, beomaster 900 RG de luxe and the collection continues...
Two different approches - each has it's pro and cons.
If you don't have or plan to get any iDevices be happy with the WD
There is a PUC for the WDTV!
P.S. Why not have both?
Greetings Millemissen
There is a tv - and there is a BV

There is an iphone app for the wdtv called WD REMOTE.
So, Yes, I intend to use sometime a idevice (iphone or android).
Thanks for the PUC info. If it doesn't cost me an arm, I will modify the PUC.
Millemissen:P.S. Why not have both?
Not my intention, because I don't want to be obliged to use itunes or an apple pc. I do prefer "open" solution each time it is possible.
I am a linux user :)
The app is free - please try it out!
I would prefer the PUC solution.
Note, you can not modify the PUC list yourself (unless your tv is a BV11/V1).
Be sure your WDTV Live is hardwired
Greetings MM
The Apple TV is made for use with Apple products, such as AirPlay, iTunes Store, iTunes Home sharing and iPhoto. The WD TV Live does not support those features but supports a number of different products. It is hard to say which is best but it all comes down to what you want and what kind of setup you have. My TV has built in support for mvk, dlna and smart tv-features so the Apple TV is for me mainly used for streaming music, video and pictures from my iPhone, iPad or friends iOS-devices. I also use the Apple TV´s to "beam" my computer screen via AirPlay to the TV easily.
Beolab 50, Beolab 8000 x 2, Beolab 4000 x 2, BeoSound Core, BeoSound 9000, BeoSound Century, BeoLit 15, BeoPlay A1, BeoPlay P2, BeoPlay H9 3rd Gen, BeoPlay H6, EarSet 3i, BeoVision Eclipse Gen 2 55", BeoPlay V1-40, BeoCom 6000 and so much else :)

It is
Having tried both Apple TV and the WD TV Live i have found the WD TV to be more sluggish when navigating in the menu system and have not found a way to place the most used items up front. For Example Netflix is the most used online service for me both there are maybe 20 other services I dont use on it.
That said the WD TV live is more versatile when it comes to file formats and the ability to play directly from an attached USB disk which the AppleTV lacks.
Tried this afternoon.
Very slow. Sometimes I get sound through HDMI sometimes not. It just makes me crazy.
I am gonna ask for a refund.
Still searching for something that plays mkv, mpg files with dlna.

Hi kallasr,
Thanks for your answer. I have selected of course hdmi pass through. Everything plays fine with my ps3 through hdmi except mkv files.
With this WD TV , some mpg files plays with sound some without sound.
Absolutely no reasons to explain this.
It seems that I am not alone to have this issue. I search for "no sound with wd tv" and there are plenty of thread about this.
I use a DROBO NAS, most files are mpg files (VOB renamed as mpg files).
I played a mkv files without any problem.
The software update has been done.
Did you select auto or manual for hdmi output (AAC , dolby digital, DTS ...).
I have a bv 7 with beosystem 3 so it should decode dts.
95% of my files are with a dolby digital 5.1 soundtrack.
I just tried it with my other philips tv and the results are absolutely the same.
This philips tv has DLNA built in and this problem never occurs when I use it.
In the days before BV11/V1 B&O mostly used the TViX boxes.
