I currently have a BeoPlay V1 -40. I love the TV! My first real B&O purchase (I am one of them new to B&O).
I agree it is not a pure B&O design, but I love the functionality, price and even basic looks (white model on a wall bracket). Connectivity is a great plus.

Great sound for a TV, but I would like to use it as my main sound system in the (small) living room.

Would you buy:
a) Nice aluminium anodised BeoLab 11  + 2x second life BeoLab 6000s
b) 2x Beolab3
c) New beolab 14 full set
d) other?

Thanks

The BeoPlay V1 is a beautiful television. Congratulations.

If your listening will be primarily music oriented, go for the BeoLab 3s and add a BeoLab 11 when you are able to afford it.

If you want the majority of this system's use to be for the enjoyment of movies with less music listening, get the BeoLab 14. I am not a fan of BeoLab 6000s and believe they are really designed for use as a rear speaker, albeit a good one. Because of the design and price-point, they were quickly adopted as primary speakers shortly after their launch, but they do not excel at this use in my opinion.

Congrats - I have a V1 too and I love it. 80% of its use is as an audio system with the screen muted - I use it with 8000 fronts, 6000 rears and a 2, with different speaker groups set to shortcut buttons on the Beo4. The flexibility with the speaker setups is really great - if it's something lighter or jazzy I'll more often than not just use the 8000s, otherwise I'll add a hint of sub to back it up. 3s plus an 11 seems to be the way to go these days, if you can afford it. Otherwise I think second-life 8000s are great value at the moment - I got my mint unplayed Mk2s for less than £1k.

I too am in the same situation as drihoek. I currently have the BL6000's connected to a V1 and while it does sound good, in the shop the BL14 package really does sound awesome in comparison when connected in the same format. I plan on getting a BL14 package to replace the 6000's and use the BL6000's in the bedroom purely for this reason. Plus it's time for me to update the design in the living room.

Ah, you know... A little B&O here, a little there
