Hello all.
First post here. I am a Beo Noob. I inherited a Beogram RX2 from my great aunt. I have used it a bunch in the last few years. I recently noticed a drop in the frequency response, particularly in the mid range. My assumption is that I need to replace the needle. After poking around a bit, I have noticed the prices of these things are really steep.
Should I try to grab another Beogram RX2 for parts/etc?
Should I just buy a slightly used cartridge?
Should I buy a 3rd party one (I have seen a company or two that does it, but their sites are shady.)
Can I use another version of the cartridge? It currently has a MMC5 on it. I read that MMC3/4/5 are compatible. Whats the difference? Will a MMC20EN work?
I have also read some places that just some minor tone arm adjustment can fix some frequency response issues.
Sorry for all the questions. Just trying to wrap my head around this whole thing and I REALLY MISS MY RECORDS.
Thanks!

Check/set the tracking weight, if it is still correct you could try a little higher than advised for MMC5 as its suspension may have aged and gotten stiffer.

You are correct. MMC1-5 will work. 20EN is too big (older model).
A new cartridge can be bought from soundsmith, though this is expensive and they have a sharper sound. The original B&O sound is more mellow. Axel at schallplattennadeln.de repairs aged suspension and can upgrade the needle and cantilever if you wish. More economical and more true to original B&O sound.
