Well my Beogram is still playing, but has begun to be a bit "quirky".

First problem is, when I power it on (its on a master socket thats powered on and of by my Suround receiver), it doesn't allways power on properly.

It displays 33. in the display, and nothing more happens. Sometimes pressing play or stop, makes the player "reboot", and after a few seconds it shows the normal . in the middle of the display. Then I can use it normally.

Other times I have to cut the power to restart the Beogram.

Would the beogram be better of with just being left with power suplied all the time? I suspect the power usage is low in standby?

Another problem is that it has begun to stop playing in the middle of a record.
Suddenly in the middle of a song, the beogram stops and the arm returns to the resting place.

At first I thought it was due to a specific record I had, where a long monologue made a long track (ca. 5 mins), only cover about ½ a cm on the record (so the player thinks the arm isn't moving, and stops playback).

But since then it has done it on normal records also.

I have watched the tracking regulation, and it seems the beogram sometimes only aligns the tracking once every 7 revolutions of the record on some of my LP's.
I think that is cutting it close to the time where it stops automatically?

Can something easy be done to fix this?

All typical symptoms of the need for a complete overhaul.
Capacitors will need replacing.
The boards will need a good check for cracked solder joints (there will be many) and broken copper traces.
Cleaning, lubrication, adjustments etc. etc...
All very common by now.

Thats bad news :(

As late as the 9th of november last year I received it back from you after it was in for a complete overhaul.

If I have to send it in every 8 months, it'll be a little expensive to keep it running....

I cant believe that the capacitors are allready bad after such a short period.

It could be a loose connection, I dont know?

It played through two records this afternoon without problems, after I moved the protective plastic over the arms base a little (it was touching the pickup arm on the left side). I hope this helps with the problem.

If it needs reapiring again, I would think it would be a smaller job than last time, since it was completely overhauled 8 months ago :)

Well, if the carriage plastic housing is not correctly fitted, it can cause a lot of problems for the tracking etc. and if the tracking
is not correct, the processor will park the tonearms and shut the Beogram down.
I suggest you send it to me if the problem arises again.

I'll have to wait and see if it works better from now on.

The plastic cover seemed to have loosened itself on the right side, where it wasn't snapped into place in the groove/hole where it should sit. Probably a result of me correcting the sensor arm, that was a bit out of alignment. These players are quite sensitive it seems :)

I'm a bit concerned about the power on issues, but will try leaving it powered, instead of on the master socket. Electronics normally last longer when not turned on and of all the time, and theres a lot of old stuff in this player.

I still have your E-mail, so I will contact you if problems persist, then we can talk about what to do.

There is no problem in you switching off the mains to the whole system when not in use.
I have a Beomaster 8000 / Beogram 6006 combination I do this to myself every day.

Yes, please contact me if you experience a problem.
Obviously, I cannot give any guarantee that any unit repaired by me won't ever fail again, whatever the reason,
but 8 months is not the return frequency I normally see.
However, if you adjusted the sensor arm recently and didn't fit the carriage cover correctly, that could easily
explain the tonearm problem.
The other problem sounds more like a bad CPU reset and the reasons for this could be many but let it run and
let's see what happens.

I can put the unit through all the tests I want in the repairshop. I can test it for hours and days.
The best test is always done by the owner using it daily.
