Retrofitted DAB+ Module on BeoSound 4

Hello All,

Has anyone retrofitted a DAB+ module on a BeoSound 4.

According to the B&O web site and pricelist this is possible.

However B&O is saying this is not possible.

Livius,

The short answer is you can retrofit a DAB+ module into a BeoSound 4

The long answer is that when the BeoSound 4 was launched each area/country decided how they were going to sell the BeoSound 4 into their area, with or without DAB. Equally depending how old your BeoSound is, determines the cost because if the AP software is lower than version 2.0 then you also have to replace the uPH8-3-EEPROM

B&O produced an service manual supplement for:-

• Installing a DAB+ into a BeoSound 4 and Beocenter 2
• A separate supplement with a step by step guide on how to mount a DAB+ module
• A separate supplement on how to replace a DAB module with a DAB+ module

So, in short it is certainly possible, but many will not wish to take on the job.

I would be interested in this as well, for a Beocenter 2. Otherwise I'm going to have to sell it.  It had DAB... now that's dead. I need DAB+

I can confirm that you can have your DAB module replaced by a DAB+ module.

The Beocenter 2 units which can be upgraded are:-

• Beocenter 2 Type Numbers 2811 to 2824 inclusive from serial number 18120924
• Beocenter 2 Mark 2 Type number 2825 to 2838 and 2849
• Beocenter 2 audio Type number 2839 to 2848 inclusive

The H8 and Master unit must be updated to the latest software version and if your Beocenter 2 is older than serial number 19222096 then you also need a new EEPROM. from serial number 19222096 a flash software update can be done by the dealer.

Keith - you wouldn't happen to know if there is a serial number range or other identifier on the Beosound 4 if it is fitted with a DAB+ module (from the factory) ?

When upgrading the BS4 with DAB+, a software upgrade is required.

You can check the software version: AP 2.92I to see if the BS4 Support DAB+
