Hi all,
I have just purchased a new house and the previous owner had a massive B&O setup. He took most of it with him but left behind B&O kit (amp, speakers in the ceiling plus round controller) in 2 of the bathrooms, a sound bar in one of the bedrooms and a B&O TV in another bedroom. Where the B&O TV was in the lounge is a few master link cables. Now I don't have and will probably never get a B&O TV in the lounge but I am keen to get the radio working in the bathrooms and bedroom or better still be able to connect my iTunes via airplay.
Ideally I would connect an airplay receiver to the master link (ideally one per room or where the master link cable is in the lounge) so I can play music from my ipad or PC.
Is this possible? Or can I get half way there?
Many thanks,
Jon
First, you need an audio "master" to use you speakers in the other rooms. Then, I would suggest connecting an airport express to the aux input of the Master. You will probably also need a beo4 remote. You can switch on the system via the silver disk, but you cannot control the source. The master would be connected to the ML cable in the lounge, and the controlled via beo4 in lounge or any room with a silver disk.
For the audio master, maybe a 2nd hand Beosound 3000 or Beosound 4 - I don't know whether "vintage" amp would work, but I'm sure someone on the forum does. I've also heard that a BeoLink pc2 or beoport can work as a standalone audio master, but I recall there being sone disagreement about this - and this will need a dedicated computer as well.

Hi Jundrill,
Welcome to beoworld.
I hope I am getting you right, there is a BeoTV in one Bedroom? If it is connected to Masterlink and the speakers are as well it sounds like you might be able to stream music from the line in of the TV to the speakers.
Probably it would make more sense to get a BeoSound Audio Master and connect a Playmaker or an Apple Airport Express ( with line out ) to it. The BeoSound would the be your gateway into the masterlink.
Not very difficult to get there but I assume to check the installation with a local dealer to check cabeling etc before buying any additional stuff.
Good luck and lots of joy with your new home.

That is what my local dealer suggested (that a buy a BeoSound 3200 or alike, put that in the lounge and connect up the master), but, I thought there might be a box of tricks out there that on one end can connect to the master cable in the lounge and on the other end has a line in of some description that then connects to an AirPort Express or alike?
Basically the same job as a BeoSound or alike but cheaper and just a small black box?
I saw the other post re: the BeoLink pc2 or beoport, has any one got this working well? How exactly does it work as its more than line in one end and the master link the other right?

A BeoPort will require a personal computer - windows or Mac based - to receive the commands and interpret them: N-Music to access your music via the PC.
I appreciate all your music is help electronically, and you feel there is not point (and it seems expensive) to buy a Beosound to manage physical media that you don't have ... but if it was a Beosound 4 you could receive FM and DAB+
Why not look at the device from the perspective of furniture - and pick what looks the nicest ?
But first check the wiring by seeing if you can turn the TV on from the bathrooms !

The BeoLink Converter 1611 is reported working as an Audiomaster.
Connecting a AES or an AppleTV to the tv - making that the videomaster, would be the easiest thing to do.

There is a tv - and there is a BV

If his music is stored in an iTunes library or iTunes Match cloud.
If it was, how would the bathrooms' access the ATV's audio ?

I did a test ... on my BV8-40 started my ATV playing from my iTunes library and went into a link room and pressed [DVD] which is my assignment for the ATV, and voila ... music came forth.
Feeling adventurous, so I may try the same thing for the BV8-32's ATV

well that was a fruitless adventure ... even when I separated the two ATVs as DVD2=BV8-40 and DVD=BV8-32 I could not get the BV8-32 (which admittedly is a link TV) to be picked up from the other link room ... oh well.
but ! the BV8-32 did pick up DVD2 from the BV8-40 and play its music
Spurred on by that I have been trying to attach two ATVs to the BV8-40 .... "huh?" .... well then I can have one ATV go direct to the internet and get good response times, and have the second ATV go to my Plex Server.
That adventure succeeded but there is a (high as I found out) risk that the IR PUC signals might overlap inside the dark cupboard I have all the clutter hidden in ! Well I proved it possible (listening the "Hell Freezes Over" right now!) but after the next song I will disentangle it all !
All I can say is..... MEAW MEAW 🐯
Greetings MM

That is easily done!

Hi elephant, if you have connected ATV (only) via HDMI to BV 8-40 in main room, you will hear sound from ATV in link room only if BV 8-40 is turned on. If BV 8-40 is in standby, you have to connect ATV also to an analogue input of BV 8-40 (with a converter) to get sound in link room. Greetings Räuber

Very true Räuber, you are quite correct ! sorry for leaving that detail out of my experiment's results
