I've acquired the 1900 turntable from craigslist without a cartridge.  I'm looking for a replacement cartridge.  I know it originally came with a MMC 4000.  I believe that was replaced by the MMC 20 series?  It seems that  www.schallplattennadeln.de offers a reasonably priced repaired MMC20E that is "off the shelf" ready to ship.  So I have a couple of questions.

1. Has anyone had experience with this website where they shipped to the USA.

2. And just to confirm that the MMC20E fits my Beogram 1900.

Thanks in advanced

Alan

Not in US but Axel is great. The 20E will certainly fit - the EN would be closer to the original in spec. You may have to pay customs. Soundsmith will also supply cartridges and are based in the US. The advantage of the E and Soundsmith cartridges are they are black which match the 1900 arm nicely.

Soundsmith cartridges are brand new and hand made. They use more modern materials and are quite a bit brighter than the originals. I personally prefer Axel's but it is very much a matter of taste.

I'd like to get a handle on the total out of pocket expense from Axel.  I'd also prefer to have a B&O cartridge as opposed to the Soundsmith.  The least expensive alternative from Soundsmith is $250 where it seems that from Axel I could get the previously mentioned MMC20E for about $140.  The $140 is based on Axels website, which says, shipping is included but I'm not sure if that means to the USA.

I know that the MMC20E is not exactly the original level of performance but...  I'd like to get the 1900 going and then maybe I'll get the itch to have more performance.

You will have to write Axel, but as shipping with "Deutsche Post"(also DHL) is cheap, it may be included in the price.

Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.

I still have this one but if you want to be sure go for Axels.
