Creedence Clearwater Revival's Chronicle on cassette with newly repaired P45s. These things sound fantastic. I'm a bit shocked to be honest.

The latest - picked these up at the annual Hippie Fest here in town then had to bicycle back in front of a thunderstorm. The skies let loose within a minute or so after I got home

Love the Beomaster 4000 and it just doesn't get better than Mireille Mathieu! Big Smile OK, maybe Edith Piaf, but Mireille Mathieu had a much wider range plus her English was plausible, unlike the great chanteuse.

Just put Johnny Cash on the Bg 5000, BM 4000, connected to the CX 100s if anyone has voice like 2 boxes of cigarettes and bottle of whiskey a day, its him. Then Luis Cobos with the London Symphonics, Mexicana, singing along, if I open my windows, the neighbors close theirs, wonder why.

And at nearly full volume, also wonder what these small boxes can take.

Chaka - singing studio albulm 35 years later.  Bit screechy, but the pipes still work.

http://youtu.be/3Hr9lq2QAoc  kind of singer you either like or dislike.  I have had my mother in the car playing Chaka.  She can't stand her.  Said 'turn this screeching *** off'.

Tina Arena has a great voice (fellow Australian).  Saw her live a few times in musicals.  Powerhouse vocals.  can actually sing (unlike Kylie who sounds like a 12 years old with nasal congestion).  That Royal Jubilee performance was a shocker!

Dom (user "dmacri") gave me this Beocenter 3500 for the price of shipping and materials.  It arrived yesterday, and I got it set up this evening.  A little checking of the phono section with headphones and a decent copy of ELO's "Discovery."

A very public THANK YOU to Dom!

You're going to be disappointed.

In the end I opted to replace the P30s with the P45s in the garage (in Beosystem 2400), so the P45s got a Plain Jane dark brown fret cloth I had left over from an S40 project from maybe 2 years ago.  But that's OK, because I imagine some day the P45s and S40s will find their way into the same Dolby 5.1 (or 7.1) system.

Today during work, I discovered a youtube channel called "Off The Avenue."  Its full of live studio recordings of a wide variety of contemporary bands/artists. Interesting format of live recordings as it has that live recording character without the crowd and noise.

So far my favorite discovery is an indie band called Bombay Bicycle Club.

Its simple, uncomplicated listening tonight via PC -> Form 2.

Yes yes yes... I think I worded that a little wrong! Smile

When my work requires me to sit at my desk for hours and hours I NEED to have some tunes and often times have to find new material. Youtube channels are my savior.

Unfortunately I won't have the luxury of my music while I work (yes, work Laughing) today as I will be machining some parts.

My favorite Eagles album:  The Long Run.  CD rip in iTunes on my desktop S45-2s.  Tomorrow they get replaced on the desk by S40s and get their drivers epoxied.

I think I've already done "the Martin surgery" on the phase links, but I've been lazy and haven't done the woofers yet.  And now Eugene/Ricardo/Richard has said a tweeter has slipped.

You misread my friend. The tweeter slip was on the S75's .... also a Peerless.  Manufactured at the same time as the woofer, What happened to the tweeter on one of the S-45's was most likely  a burned or shorted voice coil. DOA 0 ohm.

Although I did epoxy all of my drivers on the S-75 and S45's when I had them apart. Wouldn't hurt to do it.

Right now I am listening to  Once In Love With Amy -  Somethings coming -  The Laurie Johnson Orchestra

Used the A8s on a 3 hour flight to listen to some Rod Stewart, the "Call Me" song that a few people were raving about a month or so ago, and some toe tapping Las Ketchup and "We're going to Ibiza" (except we weren't and yes I have terrible taste some days)

Right now, I'm listening to 'Mr Blue Sky - the very best of ELO' on my classic BeoCenter 9500 with Beolab 5000's.

A Collection of classic ELO hits - not remastered, but re-recorded by mr Jeff Lynne himself...
He claims that these new versions are better than the originals... Well they are NOT... Sad

As a wise man once said: If it ain't broke, don't fix it...

But - it's a nice cover painting anyway...Big Smile
