Hi. One of my speakers are sounding not too good when heavy bass note are played. I have to decrease the Bass level and volume when bass-ie musics are play or else it sound like 'blark blark blark" instead of thum thum thum.
Any owners here managed to replace the speakers? I wondered how it would sound when replaced with other brands of speakers.
cheers.
Check the rubber seal around the cone of the loudspeaker. Probably the adhesive is broken and it pumps air.
Some special glue can fix it...
uhvo:Is there anything what you could do for trebles ?
As long as the woofers are not damaged in the voice coil area (burned out, misaligned) replacing the surrounds usually isn't too hard for such a small woofer. The tweeters are another issue. I think those tweeters were used in a number of B&O speakers of the era, some here who are more familiar could probably tell you which. Two options I see, one is to watch eBay as these tweeters occasionally come up for sale. The other is if someone like Dillen or Leslie who have a treasure trove of old B&O parts sees this and can get you some.
Putting a different driver, woofer or tweeter, in is not really an option. For one, getting them to physically fit is an issue, the other is that the drivers are not all the same, the cabinets and crossovers are specifically tailored to the characteristics of the drivers, Anything else will sound very different, and not in a good way.

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus.
Hey thanks a lot guys.
Appreciated it .Yeah, I am a bit worry about replacing a non-B&O speakers which may lead to diluting of the purity of the sound coming out from the system.
Okay, I will take a look at the diafram to see if there' s any rubber seal loosen.
I tried sourcing for speakers from ebay, but not much luck unless you wanted to buy another set of speakers. Anyway, I will write to my local B&O gallery to enquire about the speakers. Hope the speakers aren't too costly over this part of the world.
Again, thanks to all.
If the defective bass driver isn't making any sound whatsover, the problem isn't deteriorated rubber surrounds. And the 'Lab 2500's don't seem to suffer from this in the first place. Plus, you've got two defective tweeters. My guess is you'll have to buy another pair. $150 - $250 here in the US.
Nope. The woofers are fine. I have just checked both the woofers' rubber surround for tear or signs of wear but it looks good. Rubbers are not hard but soft to touch. Perhaps the noise comes from the stand? Will test it out later.
thanks anyway.
You kind of have to be patient with eBay, keep checking regularly and I think you will find some eventually.
