My BV3 has a power/processor fault and I fear that it is beyond economic repair.  I have today received a short term replacement, a BV6-26 Mk2 - many thanks to Darren at Timeless for sending so quickly to Denmark!

A question:  Can I swap the Surround Module from the BV3 to the BV6?  The part numbers look the same in the service manuals, but if I did this, would the BV6 also need a software update?

If the partnumbers are the same, it would probably work. If it physically fits, that will be another issue.

The Surround modules could be fitted or removed without software updates in the past, with the Avant, BV3 ectcetera.

So, my suggestion is, just try and you will notice.

The only problem is, if there is an update needed, it needs a service tool to flash the BV6. Not just an IC.

But my guess is that it will work without softwareupdate.

Thanks Beobuddy,

I think that I will remove it from the BV3 and then wait until I need it.  I will also remove the STB-C module as well, while I have the back off.
