Firstly, I do not use Facebook, having seen too many relatives and acquaintances confess to posting too much and then finding some difficulty in removing stuff entirely afterwards.
Having said that I am aware that many who once posted very regularly on Beoworld now do so infrequently but do post and remain in contact through Facebook. Is it possible that Facebook and similar sites are indirectly killing the likes of Beoworld?
Graham
Nothing can kill beoworld. I tried several times and it is a kind of Phoenix
4 beolab 5, beolab 9, beolab 10, beolab 5000, beolab 8000 mk2, beolab 6002, beolab 3500, beovision 7 55 mk2, 2 beovision 11 46 mk4, beotime, beosound ouverture, beosound essence, beoplay A8, beomaster 900 RG de luxe and the collection continues...
Facebook is the last thing I use to communicate, except for the off poke here and there.
I know I haven't been posting like I used to because I have become so insanely busy with school, racing, work, etc. Its been a long time since I've had the time to re-cap an amp.
Beo4 'til I die!
Face what?
Perhaps my children (18 and 19X2) have a clue, Il'll ask them.

Have never and will never use it.

No, I don't think so at all. Our visitor numbers have remained at pretty much a constant (albeit steady) upward trend since we launched. Yes, we have peaks and troughs depending on the season, weather etc - but we're good, really!
What we do see slightly more of though is people visiting and reading rather than visiting and actually posting. This again comes in peaks and troughs, and posting usually peaks when new products are launched. We all get tired of talking about the same old things and subjects run out of steam. We're a B&O enthusiasts site, so we're kind of tied in to the fortunes (and misfortunes) of the company itself.
I don't think BeoWorld can kill Facebook, but neither can Facebook kill BeoWorld. Is that called a Danish Mexican stand-off? Soren may be able to advise...
I don't think so, too.
Posting on BeoWorld lets you focus on what is going on with the many aspects of the B&O-world
We have the possibility to dig deeper on the forum.
What might change is the way people post - maybe the postings are getting more 'facebooky' over time.
Those of us, who use Facebook should be aware of that, when posting.
MM
There is a tv - and there is a BV
Millemissen: Those of us, who use Facebook should be aware of that, when posting.

Same here, and that goes double for Twitter.

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus.
9 LEE: Millemissen: Those of us, who use Facebook should be aware of that, when posting.
Lee hat got it already - push the button...and nothing happens.
What Peter said. My wife uses it and keeps me posted on Jaff's family though.....
I don't use Facebook and Twitter because I'm not that exhibitionist type of guy and I am so oldschool that I prefer "offline talking" with friends, family and colleagues. I prefer a dedicated forum on specific fields and I hope that Beoworld will stay for the next decades till I'm retired. @ Millemissen: Man, how many languages do you speak? I see you in the danish, german and english part of the forum. Respect!
Agree - 'tis the work of the devil and if johnny foreigner who invented it had a dollar for every issue and problem he's caused then he'd have even more money than he got selling it!!
Also dislike the tendency for companies wanting you to like them and visit their fb page in order to read somthing they could easily have posted on the site asking you to go to fb!!! B&O are guilty of this.
Anyhoo, enough ranting I have a Shetland throat!
Ban boring signatures!
Whenever there's been a Facebook based competition from B&O it's not been Apple compatible to enter!
Beo Century ,Beoplay V1, Beocenter 6, Ex-Beolit 12, Beotime , A8. Beolit 15 , Form 2i , Beolab 2000, Beoplay A3.Beosound 1
Simonbeo: Whenever there's been a Facebook based competition from B&O it's not been Apple compatible to enter!
Maybe they did it on purpose!
Puncher:companies wanting you to like them and visit their fb page in order to read somthing they could easily have posted on the site asking you to go to fb!!! B&O are guilty of this.
yes, it would be good if B&O posted their FB material here - or at least the links
BeoNut since '75

With a net worth of $20,000,000,000 I'd say he does..
Jeff: Peter: Have never and will never use it. Same here, and that goes double for Twitter.

Hi TWG,
only those three!
I get the Grrr!'s when I come upon a dutch or french posting.
That is too difficult - although I do understand a bit french, but not enough to participate.
By the way: I don't have a Facebook-account.
I do have a Twitter-account, but don't post anything.
I use it to follow a few people/companies (amongst those are B&O).
It is for me a way to get updated on specific news - without being tricket into a net of 'non-social relations'.
Greetings MM

It is called Mexican Stand off, and it is the same as Dead Mans Hand in poker, if 2 players has this hand and compete, both die.
Considering the size of Denmark, there will never be a Danish-Mexican standoff
I use FB for family, and Beoworld for important stuff.
Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.
I thought facebook is a kid's thing ? Never considered even looking at it.
I would rather get my 4d and head off down to the phonebox and have the satisfaction of pressing B for 3minutes of banter !
Can't tell how it is elsewhere.
In DK Facebook seems to be the darling of the 60+ gen used to be/get in touch with the family.
Almost the only thing the use their pc/smartphone for.
So nothing 'kiddy' 'bout that.

A few reasons why I don't use Facebook:
I like to keep in contact with my friends and family the old-fashioned way: on the phone, via mail, text messages (SMS) - or simply meeting them face to face...(in real life)
Some people say: Ohhh - it's so funny to 'meet' people you haven't seen for years...I will say: I have no need to be in contact with people I haven't met or spoken to, for the last 10 - 20 years... There may be a reason why we haven't spoken or met for years. Sometimes you have to move on, and stop living in the past...Real friends will be there forever
I don't need to see tons of pictures of peoples vacations, or daily updates on their dogs, children - or even their DINNER!!! - or reading about their daily life, or their comments to politics or whatever...
Facebook will never kill a dedicated site like Beoworld.
Living far away from the family and friends, FB is a good way to keep in touch. and you can choose the persons you want to be in contact with. For video calls I use Skype. And no, FB will not kill Beoworld, our special needs can only be handled on a forum like this
90% of our workforce are under 30 good time girls picked for their good looks, charm and attentiveness. Most are constantly nagging to be my friend.
As a fat middle aged man, what's not to like
Beosound Stage, Beovision 8-40, Beolit 20, Beosound Explore.

My children tell me that I am a miserable old git, my grand children call me Grumpy Grandad!
I thought I was all alone in the world with not a friend to be had.
But no............I know that Steffen is out there with the same indifferences as me
I suppose I should be happy ........but it would be out of character!!
joeyboygolf:My children tell me that I am a miserable old git,
Leave your inheritance to Beoworld and prove them right . ;-0
joeyboygolf:.....but it would be out of character!!
Stiff upper lip always saves the moment.
I wouldn't discuss B&O on facebook.
To be honest, while I have a FB account, I post once a year tops!
Beoworld is slower IMO though than it's been before. I'm "to blame" too, as I don't spend as much time on here posting as I used to.
Too long to list....
One thing frustrating me posting here, is the slow forum software... I can manage a few posts, but then after waiting, and waiting for the post to actually "post" I just get frustrated. Often resulting in double posts.
Did anybody try *diaspora? It is a social network that does not require your soul to be sold nor your grandma's soul to be sold ...
I must confess that I haven't visited Beoworld in ages. Sorry about that...
In my case I tend to dive deep into a subject for a period of time, then lose interest. I still have all my B&O stuff of course, but I don't write or talk about them much anymore.
Instead I have been tinkering with wristwatches, even building a few of my own, mainly from chinese parts. It's a brilliant hobby, and it's much cheaper than B&O. Well, it could be expensive too, but I haven't gotten there yet.
Anyway, I just wrote to let you know that I'm picking up a HDR1 this weekend. It will look great with my DVD1 and Beovision 6-26.
Edit: I spend way too much time on Facebook, by the way. Way too much...
I'm a big facebook fan (great at keeping in touch with people) but with the exception of posting the odd B&O Youtube video links to my Facebook page, I strictly keep B&O to Beoworld !
Beosound 8, Beotime, Beocom 4, Beo 5, Lutron Rania, MacBook 15" (Mid 2015), iPad Pro, iPhone 6S, B&O Play H3, Beolit 12, Form 2, A8 Headphones, B&O Play A1, B&O Essence

Now you know you're not alone. Don't be afraid to fall out of character
One day you may be known as Happy Grandad
Well as so many of my younger friends are on Facebook I have tried….. and tried and not only do I not understand the format and how to use it properly, if there is such a thing, I monumentally do NOT understand the need for all the one sentence sound-bites. And do we really need to know when someone visits the bathroom? I so we don’t.

Facebook is not the oracle but where I post my "face".
I must read more than I post on Beoworld and enjoy the comfort of others enjoying B&O whilst not having to explain why I indulge in this wondrous brand.
we tend to forget there is more to design than designing.
I so agree with Grtaham on this - I joined FB only to have my sister post daft pictures of herself with her workmates at some chinese restaurant - this was then seen by everyone I work with - very embarrassing - and yes, if you haven't spoken to someone for a few years then there's a good reason for it.
Linkedin has been useful in finding ex work colleagues, but somehow the ever pushy IT Recruitment Companies are taking it over to bug me even more!
Beoworld, I hope will always have a place for people to meet and exchange views on our hobby/way of life
