I like the look of the BL8000 replacements, not what I was expecting as thought the wood might be at the back

Not so sure about the speakers - look bulky - probably need to see them in the flesh. Also, what will the slats do to the sound?

Nice looking - yes indeed.

Now, when do we get to listening to them?

Wow, not what I expected for the BeoLab 8000 successor, but yet it doesn't look so scary to me!

The wooden slats may help with sound dispersion to the same angle as the ALT, however, it's funny how B&O tells us for years that the lens has to be at ear level (and therefore offers different tilting positions on BeoLab 3 stands & brackets), and then suddenly release a 1.32 m column with a lens not pointing towards the listener (unless there is a new trick I can't see in the ALT design). Wink

Let's wait for the specs, especially regarding bass reproduction!

I was hoping that they would have shown the other speakers during the living room tour, when do we get to see the other speakers

Yeah... I was thinking the same... New philosophy to suit your needs?

Peter Pans has posted a Danish description, links to a Youtube recording (that is blocked as private), and a picture of the Paul and the new speaker.

Indeed why ? WHY ?!

Dear B&O ... you may be creating a PR fiasco; 146 views at this point of a static image is generating a negative response from the people you were hoping to attract the brand ! Not good ... three thumbs down already

There's not much on B&O webpage... Not of the "interview" with a, to be fair, "has been". And not much of the new speakers.

Since the speakers are finished, why not show them? Why wait 2 weeks? Sleep

To me its one of those designs that is interesting - but it will probably grow on me as most quirky designs do. I know right now, from the start I can appreciate the intricacy.

Regarding the sound, only the engineers with the measurements will know exactly what the slats do... But if I had to guess, they are an attempt at spreading the sound similar to ALT. I think the slats are more along the lines of a diffuser. It really depends on how deep the slats go toward the driver and if there is a coherent focal point shared between the slats' inner radius and the front of the driver.

I have seen them in the flesh and they are really beautiful to look at. Sure they will not attract everyone with their uniqueness, but they look and feel B&O all the way. If I recall right the slats do nothing for sound, they are purely for design and do not affect or influence the performance in anyway.

Ah, you know... A little B&O here, a little there

Well... I think I gave it a fair chance.
I had no problem to wait until the 15th to see and hear about the new speakers.
From the little I've seen, I even like them.
I don't have much of a problem with P McC either.

I'm a stock owner as well. Please fire everybody responsible for this launch.

As it seems the "living room" thing is going to be an on-going series of interviews, I'm at a complete loss to understand today's interview was even intimated to include the speaker launch that many here are waiting for!! It just seems to have been a complete damp squib with the exception of a passing background glimpse of the new BL8000 - I wonder how many sat through the whole thing only to be left completely bemused at the end wondering where the speakers are?

I did not hear them as it was only an early sample. I'm told they should sound as 8000/2 sound but with better dispersion because of the lens.  Time will tell as we wait for delivery.

I mean really, even if we were just fooled by some "in the know" posters to think that on 15th, these speakers will be launched... all we have at this point is a one minute long still video of Paul McC on YouTube. WT actual F?

Oh dear...

There are some lovely people working at B&O, really.  However, the PR department need marching into the HQ of a proper PR company and being shown exactly how it works...

Calamity after Disaster after Calamity.  Why?  At what point does Tue say "hey guys, you're hopeless... and you're fired." and then outsources to professionals - or hires some professionals.

I sound like a stuck record, but... MARKETING...................  Do it properly.

Apart from this particular disaster the B&O website is really hard to navigate. This is the way so many websites have gone in recent times; the website is viewed as some sort of work of art instead of being like a brochure with a simple contents page.

I keep defending Tue, and for a while longer I will...  He's very focused, very motivated - but the poor guy is pulled in so many directions he can't see everything, he has to trust people to do a job.

When the people are not good enough to do that job it's Tue's job to do something about it.

I'm not Tue's 'buddy' or anything, but from the few times I've met him I would imagine he's seriously unhappy about the way this has gone - and I'm sure he'll be acting upon it.  262 views and more dislikes than likes is pathetic.  B&O should do way better...

I know what you mean Lee, and I agree that he hasn't got an easy task... But I can't help but think that he isn't up to the task.

I'd hate to see  B&O turned into rubble... They are doing a great job at that!

I've banged on about it many times - it seems as if it's done by the turtle neck brigade for their own entertainment and satisfaction rather than as a source of information for potential and existing customers. Far, far too much scrolling about and far, far too much pretentious, airy fairy claptrap with very little "real" content - the standard of some of the technical information available is woeful.

Other than that it's fine!

Well I think some one has acted -- the video link goes to a youtube page that is still private, but:

a) it has been disassociated from the B&O channel (thank god)

b) the negative - make that all - commentary has disappeared (this is not good ... this kind of action incenses people rather than engages them)

It looks like they have removed the link from the earlier one as I just get a message saying "private" now. There is a new video up on YouTube but it is not linked back to the Facebook page link.

My wife felt the speakers were reminiscent of the kebabs in a kebab shop on the spindle.

I suspect that it was the mobile site you looked at which as you say is easier to navigate and seems to have a lot less fluff on it. The mobile site does seem to be better than the main site, which is good but silly!!!
