BS 9000 sledge stuck

Hi

I have a BS9000 that has been in storage for some years, on powering on, the sledge just stays on the first disc, shuddering for about 20 seconds and the system goes into standby. I have checked the spring alignment screws underneath and they seem to be in the right position for the unit flat.

Also checked and cleaned the prism sensors, glass and aluminium, there is nothing else plugged into the system. Can anyone give me some guidance?
