How do people feel about plasma versus led ?
I think that plasma's are very vibrant and the colours seems effortless compared to lcd, however the newer led sets are very very good!
I know it sounds silly, but I find plasma is far more like CRT compared to LED. Possibly less detailed but better colour and easier to watch.

Why I ask is there seems to have been a lot of software issues with led but the plasma's just seem to work without complaint.
With Peter's reply in mind and my experience of my BV10 I think that plasma is the way to go.
My BV10 is a bit too sharp and bright for my liking and I believe that plasma would be more comfortable to watch.

It does not sound silly. The picture on the plasma displays looks a lot like CRT (better colour than LED) -that's the reason I bought a plasma.
Seems like a lot of people think, that sharpness is the only thing that matters -but there's a lot more to picture quality than that.And in any tv you can always improve the picture if you take the time to adjust the settings -not only contrast/brightness/basic color adjustment -but the 'whole package'. Dive into the sub-menu's -you'll be surprised.
When I bought my Panny plasma I looked long and hard at the Samsung D8000 LCD TV's - their wafer thin panels and thin metal frame surrounds looked B&O like for a small fraction of the price ( of course the sound was significantly worse) - they were a lot, lot more attractive to look at than the Panny. In the end the lcd picture looked more "cartoon"- like whereas I found the plasma picture to be more "real-life".
Once I had the plasma at home I found the THX certified settings (appeared dull at first) to be, by far, the most realistic and satisfying over a long period. When comparing pictures in store be sure to compare other settings other than the in-store "impressive" mode - it soon becomes wearing.
Ban boring signatures!
Another thought - my friend has a, not inexpensive, LG plasma that I can't watch when in his house because of surface reflections from the almost gloss screen surface - something to watch out for. My Panny seems immune to all but direct sunlight.

That's very interesting that you are all describing "comfort"'. not something that I have seen mentioned before but fundamental to watching a movie with your surround sound etc.
I can watch my BV9 for hours without being annoyed by any picturefailure. I can't say that about my BV6 and having watched a BV10.
Just my opinion.
Plasma is superiour IMO.

Plasma, better colors and clearer pictures, no unclear background when the camera is scanning fast.
Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.
Plasma here too, very comfortable and impressive picture.
I feel that it has a bit more depth to the display - LCD I find a bit shouty and tiresome.
If you think nobody cares, try missing a couple of payments.
Plasma has consistent colors from any viewing angle.
Plasma here as well, for the already mentioned reasons.

Must have? That would be a BV9.
I went from avant (which i still have and use) to BV10 which I am very happy with it makes me smile when i get an opportunity to sit and watch DTV or movies. I like the crispness/sharpness of the display.
Between the two I would go for plasma. As other already mentioned it is much more "confortable" to watch than the shaper/crisper LCD images.

I agree, plasma. You have to go to a very expensive LCD to approach the black levels of a good plasma, LED backlighting with local dimming. Plasma wins in naturalness of color, black levels, and lack of motion artifacts. LCD is much improved but it takes the most expensive implementations to get close IMO.
Now, if you have a very, very bright room and need to be able to sear your retinas LCD is the bees knees!
Unfortunately plasmas are getting fewer in number, LCD is the in thing, but then most people unfortunately equate bright with good, which is why B&Os gorgeous TVs were such a hard sell back in the CRT days, at least in the US.
I miss the Pioneer Kuros.
