Hi.
I have found a used  BeoGram 1902 turntable for sale that I am interested in buying.
The seller says "it comes with a mmc 4000 cartridge and stylus which are in excellent condition and work perfectly. Tonearm works great and has been fully tested. The platter seams to scrape slightly on the table somewhere underneath and will need to be serviced before use as it is affecting the speed. I think the suspension, belt or platter bearing may need adjustment? Probably a very minor issue."

I am wary that this in fact may be more than a minor issue. Does this sound like a familiar problem to anyone? I don't have much knowledge on turntables or B&O and would appreciate the advice!

Cheers,
Nick in AUS

Welcome to Beoworld,

could be as simple as a transit screw (3 in total) not being undone completely.  Cosmetic condition and price are both factors tro consider.  Silver and Gold member upgrade gives you access to all the user and service manuals on this site.  Likely to be a minor fix but without a look, it's not possible to tell.

MMC4000 was standard on that Beogram

Keep us updated.

Dave.

My first ever B&O deck! Very simple but excellent sound. The springs probably need a little tweak to stop the rubbing. Easy to do.

What the others said.
Plus some of these decks have an additional serialnumber label stuck to the deck, underneath the platter.
The label can lift at the corners and scrape ever so lightly on the underside of the platter.
Quite annoying.
