I still have a Netatmo at home. In short : never seen better : you can have a full weather station (and more, as there is a very good forecast service associated), and it can be totally invisible, compared to all the ugly things that we know (even the Jacob Jensen one is quite bulky)
here is my review :

(or here by Google Translate )
Note that "inside air quality" is only the CO2 level, which means that you can die because of CO emitted from your fireplace, and the Netatmo station will say that the air quality is good )

I bought the Netatmo today. Very good design and very happy with it. Thank you for your review.
Do you know anything about the Netatmo thermostat as I do not speak French. Thanks again, Merci! http://www.netatmo.com/fr-FR/produit/thermostat
I have never come across Netatmo but that looks really good and thank you for bringing it to my attention.
I have a few systems including the Jacob Jensen's set which aesthetically looks pleasing but is not that practical to use due to the way the information is displayed. I also have a couple of Oregon Scientific systems but it seems a squirrel or similar took one of the outside temperature sensors and rain gauge and although I could see it active on the home display screen I could never find the units and just had to wait and watch the battery life deplete.
The other Oregon Scientific system I have is the BA900, maybe not a true 100% weather station but a nice looking piece of kit.
Chris can you kindly write up a review when you get the system please ?
we tend to forget there is more to design than designing.
The Netatmo thermostat is really new, I had not the time to try it or study what it does. The only thing negative I already see (appart fromm its design which is bulky and a bit sad looking) is that for now, the thermostat is not linked with the weather station, which could be a real bonus.
I think that we have to wait for the first software updates before making any judgment...
Note a nice feature of the weather station : as it warns you when there is too much noise, you can use it to discretly monitor if there is not a party happening in your house, organised by your children in clandestinity...
Hi, thanks for your replies. For anyone interested in Netatmo. Please visit this link to view my station statistics
I just gave you access to my Netatmo Weather Station "Hepworth, Yorkshire" so you can check weather and air quality in real time. You will be able to access my station’s measurements directly from your iPhone, iPad, Android or Computer, with this invitation:http://www.netatmo.com/addguest/index/WucIeI4rJo5V/70:ee:50:00:ac:a0
I'll write a review in due course. Thanks again.

This is the best review I have seen online. If you need to ask anymore questions feel free :D
It's very similar in its outputs to a number of Oregon designs which have their own displays.
These weather stations are more a modern take on the old barometer. A true weather station would normally have a rain gauge. The British Standard for rain gauge siting makes it just about impossible to locate a gauge to give accurate readings in an urban situation. Has anyone found a station that has a modern take on the rain gauge?
Graham
To answer my own question, the Jacob Jensen rain gauge and others are available via Amazon.

There will still be the problem of siting so as not to be affected by wind, building shadow, ground splash etc etc.
I am using an egg shaped Oregon internal unit which has a very small temperature transmitter unit outside in a shaded position. As far as I can tell all the pressure readings and weather forecast displays are derived by the internal units measurements just like an old fashioned barometer, looking at atmospheric pressure and rate of rise or fall.
I believe the Netatmo Rain Gauge is out this year and the Anemometer is out next year. You have to buy them a separate modules.

Wow! That's a really cool concept for a weather station.
Why doesn't B&O make statement electronic lifestyle products like this anymore?
