I've been having fun over the last few days. There are some high value B&O items in the USA (Beosound 9000 and Beolab 8000 speaker package, Beovision 5 TV etc) all being advertised by different sellers but using the identical photos of the items each time.
The conditions are 0.69$ start price but you can't bid. You have to contact them at work (a different G-mail address each time) to be offerred a buy it now price of 2000$ and then pay by Paypal - this leaves any buyer with no Paypal protection cover of course. It doesn't matter what the item is from this 'seller' the condition and terms/price are always the same. It's obviously a scam or the real sellers are hacked.
However, on reporting this to eBay, to their credit (and I hate saying this), they have taken down the sellers items in totallity within 15 minutes of reporting them.
I don't like eBay as a company but I do love to use them as a conduit for my B&O buying and hate to see it abused. It's like a game now for me as I have the time to do this. I hope the sellers aren't Beoworlders!
Dave.

I have been reporting the same items, it seams like the "seller" hijacks ebay users identity, mostly users with 98 to 100% feedback, and then, in the description, says "do not bid, write me at this mail address, price for the item will be USD 2000. to 2500 " or something like that, its always very valuable items, like BL5s for usd 2500.00. Ebay do take them down, but do not seam able to plug this hole in their security., the blasted crook is also stupid, he always use the same opus moderandi and nearly the same text.
Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.

It looks like another one here:

It appears you were correct about the hijacking. This listing doesn't seem to match the others that the seller has.

Oopss... I don't think You have to blame E-bay when for example a user has an "easy to use" password, and somebody steals it - Ebay can only act if somebody (like You - thanks for it!) tells them that this account is probably compromised.
As Paypal is not mandatory payment there is no way to deny the payment for a different Paypal address and it's not even a fraud, for example a private person intend to sell something, however the buyer needs an invoice, so the payment should be transferred to a company not to a private person.
Anyvay, if I know well, than Paypal protection is NOT Ebay protection, so if I'm right, then the Paypal guarantee is independent from Ebay - if You fill the form, as You purchased the items, and You add the Ebay number to the auction, than IMHO the Paypal guarantee is also valid, as Paypal payment and the Paypal protection is not only for Ebay, but for many other auction sites.
But it's my humble opinion about the case, the most important thing is to keep Your eyes open, and help to ban the thiefs from the auction sites.
I once bought a playstation 3 off ebay and was ripped off. I never received it. Ebay did refund me the full amount because they caught the woman who had scammed me and others as well. She called me "sweety" in all of our message exchanges.
