Dear members,

my current setup is comprised of: Beovision Avant 8430, DVD2, Beosystem 7000 (Software 1.3), Pentas as fronts and 4000s as rears.

I'd like to add a pair of Beolab 5000s on the wall and have the possibility to combine pairs of speakers depending on my seating position in the living room.

I've heard, this is possible by adding a Beosystem 3 to my setup. Is that correct? Do I still get the two-way information on the Beolink 7000 when the Beosystem 7000 (with Software 1.3) is in Option 0? Can one still control the entire setup with the Beolink 7000 then?

Thanks very much for the information.

Rgds,

Kai

I would go for a BeoLink Active.

If in the same room, just put it into Option 4.

Hi and thanks for the reply.

I already have 4 speakers connected to the Avant. Basically, the reason I want to add the Beolab 5000 is that I can use them to listen to music and place them on the opposite wall of my favorite seat. And because I like the 5000s of course. However, are you sure that you can switch from the already in place surround setup to the Beolab 5000s only by just using a Beolink Active? All speakers (6 in total) would be in the same room, yes. I have a BeoLink Active with LCS7000 for spare anyway. So would that work?

Rgds,

Kai

An LCS7000 with a connected MCL2 AV set to L.OPT 4 should work.

Connect your BL5000s to MCL2 AV, which should be connected to MCL outputs of your BM7000.

complete 2 way control via LCS. Just pres LINK-CD or LINK-RADIO to get your BL5000s working.

You will even get TV sound on BL5000s by pressing LINK-AV-TV (DVD, SAT...)

To answer the original question, BeoSystem 3 will support multiple speaker configurations in a single room, commonly known on the newer NL chassis TV's as Speaker Groups. On BeoSystem 3 it was called AST and it was only available on newer BeoSystem 3's (not MKI). Additionally, you will need an activation code from a dealer to unlock that feature if it hasn't been unlocked already.

Ah, you know... A little B&O here, a little there

Sorry - forgot that you probably would want the display in the BL5000's to work.

The advice from Stefan is (as often) the better.

That sounds pretty amazing. Which Active Kit would work? There seem to be many around with many different type and serial numbers. Therefore, I'm a bit confused. Maybe somebody could tell me what characteristics (type number?) to look for? Which one went originally with the LCS7000?

Kai

I think it`s number is 2020. Called MCL2AV. You will find it here on the product site. You don`t need the original ir transceiver, if you have the LCS7000.

I had an LCS7000 connected to an MCL2 AV set to L.OPT 4 as a link system years ago, so I`m sure it works.

MCL2 AV needs an external 15V power supply, if I remember correctly. You can connect three additional local sources.

there was no "original" with the LCS. You can also add an MCL2A (I think this was original ??), it`s just working the same way with passive speakers (but no add. sources..).

@BeoMegaMan: Sorry, I usually try to answer the original question, but the op made clear, what he expects from a BS3 in his setup, and I think we agree, that a BS3 is a bit overkill for this as a solution....(?) An MCL2 AV is cheaper, more simple, 2 way.....

So, this setup will be (maybe) the first setup in the world with SPEAKER 6 mode !!! (3x stereo...:))

No worries at all. I just wanted him to know it was possible. I agree the mentioned way is a much cheaper alternative and his displays and 2 way will work as well (although I'm pretty certain the displays will work as well on BS3 as they do with Penta's of that era,).

Thanks everybody for contributing. This is good news for me. Let's see whether I can get it all working. Sounds like the perfect solution to my problem. Could type number be 2026? A short research suggests that.

Greetings,

Kai
