Demise of analogue ... so what to do with [TV]

Now that analogue broadcasts have been shut down across Australia, how can I adjust my Beo4 so that the [TV] key has a function such as the [V.AUX] source (i.e. Foxtel) ? 

Or is it a BV8 trick ?

I think that most of us have had to get used to switching older analogue TVs  on using the SAT button to activate the preferred default digital STB.

The 'TV' button is used for the BV8's built in DVB-T module if enabled.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have a[DTV] button instead of [SAT] and it does activate the optional digital TV module which we rarely use. Don't have a digital cable STB so I use [V.AUX] to access the Foxtel's SCART.

Found it in my BV8-40 manual ... and it all worked.

Unfortunately it is not a BV8-32 function ... so now the dilemma: have the two TVs operate differently ... or stick with V-AUX ...

Perhaps the trick I have used with MXs would work - connect the STB to the SCART socket that can be configured as a decoder input. Then, set the decoder option on for (all) TV program presets. Activate with the TV remote button, then the Beovision will think it is showing the analogue preset 1 (say) but the picture and sound will be coming from the STB.

You'll probably need to use the remote of the STB to operate that, so you probably don't want this option either if you are now controlling it via the Beovision's STB-C.

I am not familiar with the broadcast structure/hardware in Australia.

But here (in the EU - in Denmark) you can buy several different 'tv-boxes' that are modified for controlling with a Beo4.

During the last two years I have set up loads of these boxes for 'old BV's - mainly Triax and both DVB-C and DVB-T(2).

These are sold as 'Beo4 compatible'.

The secret is a small converter module mounted in the 'box' - I am quite sure that this could be possible for the 'boxes' used in Australia too.

Some dealers even mount them in standart boxes themselves.

The scart connection is used to send the control signals to the BV.

If you have a BV (e.g. a 8-32) with HDMI, you can use that connections for the picture.

A pretty good solution for a small BV8-32!
