I have a DVB-T upgrade (kit 1446300) for my aging - but still fabulous - Avant DVD. The trouble is one of the components is broken.
The kit has 2 main parts, (i) the main module board, (ii) a secondary "CA module" board with an integral flexible 40-pin strip connector to the board. This plugs into the main module board.
The problem is that the CA module the strip edge connector is broken (snapped off by the looks).
I did not think that this would matter as the smart cards for the CA module have never taken off and I had no use for it. However, without it, the main module seems not to be able to store the digital channels that it scans and finds.
Does anyone know if the DVB kit can function properly without the CA module board? (I am guessing not based on my experience).
The same CA module was also used with Satellite kits for the Beovision 3-32, 5, 6, 7 and Avant (possibly others), so I am wondering if anyone has an old satellite kit or just a CA module to avoid me having to scrap a quite rare DVB-T kit?
Steve,
Can you please clarify if it is the actual cable broken as shown in the picture below marked "Cable A" or the actual connector on the CA module.
The DVB-T will not work correctly unless the CA module is connected.
Regards Keith....
Hi Keith,
Thanks for your post. It is the actually part of the CA Module itself - the main 'flexible' edge connector of the card that is broken. I've attached a jpeg file that shows mine in 2 parts.
So from what you say I'm really looking for a CA Module.
Thanks

Well, in that case as the part has been physically broken off, then you do not really have any choice other than get a new CA module.
Thanks Keith - you've confirmed what I half expected - I need a 'new' CA module.
I'll add a post on the Wanted board, but if anyone knows of a spare please let me know (obsolete at B&O I'm told).
