I'm looking for a schematic of an SQ encoder, which is proving to be a little difficult. The reason is to experiment with recording 4 channel sound onto cassette tapes or on the computer in the SQ format, as both my Beomaster 6000 4 channel and Beomaster 3400 has one built in, and would try to see how it sounds. I have also heard that Dolby Pro Logic is working a bit like SQ.

Can someone please shed some light on this (not so common) subject.

Vinyl records, cassettes, open reel, valve amplifiers and film photography.

more in common with Dolby surround I should imagine, which superseded pro-logic. I think it will be a +/-90 phase signal added to the l+r channels but not actually sure! You could try messing around (chopping up and miss-aligning) with simple sine waves in audacity or similar. Will take you minutes and might produce interesting results!
