There are a few B&O items down the list.

I think that this seller has the wrong strategy. He says he expects above eBay prices for his inventory, but he is trying to sell as a job lot. He'll be lucky to get house clearance prices unless he breaks his collection into sensible lots.

Totally agree with Graham,

A hobbyist or collector would only want specific items from this lot.  So, who do you sell to?  You sell to someone who is in business and. Wants to make money out of it.

eBay is the way to sell all of this and I'd estimate there's a full years worth or more of full time work to catalogue, test, research, photograph, list, answer questions, provide shipping quotes, pack, send and offer after sales here...

Sorry to be disrespectful to the brand I love, but from a commercial perspective all the B&O he has for sale aside from one or two bits is all a load of old crap. If all the other stuff is of the same calibre to its respective brands then that's a hell of a lot of crap...

if someone asked me to bid on the whole lot I'd be coming in at more like $20-30k to give me a years or two's wages plus some profit!

I wonder what he wants to pursue without distraction ?

we tend to forget there is more to design than designing.

This makes me wonder how much Hi-Fi equipment to possess is still healthy... I mean, there's so much beautiful stuff around and one can easily identify with many things (I know what I'm talking about from my own experience) but how much stuff does one want to own without ever using it just for the sake of owning it? Have others on here asked themselves this question?

Greetings, Kai

Good question Kai,

I have now nearly 400 pieces of B&O equipment which I'm just starting to catalogue for insurance purposes.

Most works, some definitely doesn't but still looks good.  As a life-long fan of B&O I just love to now collect it as I have the space, funds (to some degree) and the interest.  I have an addictive disposition so once I start to collect, it's difficult to stop!

However, all music in this house is played on B&O equipment and nothing else (apart from my daughters phone which I'm weaning her off and onto a CDX player or at least via a cable to a Century!).

Dave.

I think that's part of it - an addictive disposition. Add to that a genuine love and deep interest in something and you're almost certain to see a large collection of said product!

The issue comes when it all goes up for sale as a 'collection' - as collectors tend to zero in on what they like, personally.  Offer this same, very personalised collection to someone else and it becomes unattractive.  Think of a car which the previous owner has fitted aftermarket alloy wheels to, had it resprayed a custom colour, put a bodykit on it and then had the interior jazzed up.  The guy who owned it, loved it - but trying to sell it can be a nightmare..

As i said, if you took the huge amount of time to break this down you could liquidate this lot and keep what you wanted - but it's very much a full-time job.. and he's pitching it at the price an enthusiastic hobbyist might pay (if he'd won the lottery and had a bump on the head).

I'd honestly say that if you bombed eBay with every single item it'd take you 3-5 years to sell every last bit.
