Some time ago I replaced the Avant in my lounge with a BV7-40mk3 and moved the Avant to the bedroom and connected a freeview box, but I'd really like to connect it to the rest of my system with masterlink + coax from the RF out of the BV7.
It's a very early 28VCR, type 8133, s/n 11197478, s/w 1.2
I'm aware that in it's current form it doesn't support v.opt 5 / 6 but would any of the later software versions allow me to do this? (I see from the wiki that versions 1.29, 2.13 and 2.24 are listed but I don't know what was changed)
Obviously another option would be to replace it with a later model, but I'm really not sure I can face carrying it down two flights of stairs and carrying another one up!
Oh, and a quick hint for anyone else with one of these early models which no longer has any external speakers connected - opening it up and removing the ribbon cable from the Dolby Surround module means you don't have to scroll through the LIST to select SOUND->1 every time you turn on the set - it was several weeks before I thought of doing this.
