The metal panels of my BL 5000's have a somewhat spotted finish which appears to be tarnish.  I tried using a strong detergent (Mr. Clean) on them to no avail.   Should I now try a metal polish such as Noxon or a silverware tarnish remover, both of which I have on hand - or a different product?  And I noticed that , depending upon which source you look at, they are described as either being stainless steel (Beophile) or aluminum (Beoworld).  Who's correct?

Thanks in advance.

I can tell you that the surface is stainless steel (like the Pentas).

However I can not tell you what to use to clean them. Normally only Water with some mild soap -or some window cleaner - is recommended.
I have never dared using anything else.

But if the surface is very dirty or damaged it's hard to tell what to use. I hope somebody here can help you.

Thanks.  Just noticed Beoworld mentions both aluminum as well as steel in the description.

Whatever you do, don't use anythig containing any acid - it will discolour stainless steel and obviously use something non-abrasive.

A mild soap should do the trick and then possibly try coconut oil as suggested for the Penta panels to shine them up.  I've just done my Penta's and BL5000's this morning and it works really well.

If the panels are already discoloured (tarnished) that implies an incompatible cleaner has possibly been used in the past and caused a reaction.  If that's the case, it may be more of a challenge.

My Pentas had accidentally been given a wipe over with a damp cloth that had vinegar water on it and the staining (and corrosion) became obvious quite quickly.  Coconut oil removed all of the tarnish easily (the cloth was orange with oxide!) and the steel now shines again.

Dave.
