Hello beoworlders,

I have a BS5 Encore, a pair of BL3s, BL2 currently. As B&O has released beolab transmitter 1 and beolab receiver 1 is on the way, through B&O's explaination, the beolab transmitter can help to mix&match with b&o products and other brands together. I am planning to add a single belolab 17 and use beolab transmitter 1 and beolab receiver 1 to connect exsiting speakers to OPPO 105 in order to achieve a 3.1 system. Here comes the question,  how can I put the BS5 encore into this "new set up"? With the help of Beolab Transmitter 1 and Beolab receiver 1, can I achieve the following together:

1. While use BS5 encore, 2.1 system is playing (BL3 + BL2)

2. While use Oppo, 3.1 system is playing (BL3 + BL2 + BL 17)

Regards

Why would you need a Transmitter/Receiver for your setup?

Why not just use the good old cable for direct connections?

A PowerLink switch might help you combining both systems.

Hi mivsbai

In your first post you were talking about the OPPO105 - in your last post about an AV-receiver.

In the last case you could connect both the OPPO (via HDMI) and the Encore through an analog stereo-port.

The OPPO has no analog inputs, so no good for this purpose.

It is possible to connect both sources (OPPO and Encore) to a set of BeoLab speakers using a switch.

But your wish is to have a BL17 as center, which complicates the setup.

If you are serious with the AV-receiver, you would need a HDMI cable (of course) for the OPPO and an adapter from PowerLink to RCA/stereo.

To connect the BeoLab's you would need an AV-receiver with 'line-out' connections (not the speaker-otputs).

And you would need adapter cables from the line-out connections to the PL-inputs of the BeoLab's.

So you see - to give you advice to which cables/adapters you need, I need to know a bit more about your (wanted) setup.

And It would be helpfull, if you could write where you are located: Europe, USA.... for advice where to buy the cables.

Hello Millemissen,

I currently have Oppo, not an AV receiver,  sorry for the mis-leading. My idea set up are:

1. While use bs5 encore, 2.1 system (BL3 + BL2) is playing

2.While use OPPO, 3.1 system (BL3 + BL2 + BL17) is playing

I have noticed the powerlink switch could help to achieve what I want. My understanding of correct connections are:

1. BL3 connect to BL2 => BL2 connect to powerlink switch's "output"

2. BS5 encore connect to powerlink switch's Input 2

3. Oppo connect to powerlin switch's input 1

4. A single BL17 or BL 4000 to Oppo's center chanel (line out)

however, I am wondering can the powerlink switch send trigger signal to activate BL 2 automatically ?

Regards

Triggering should be no problem.

I see what you mean, but I am not quite sure if the solution with the center direct connected to the OPPO will work ad expected.

There might be some sound delay with connecting both ways.

The only way to be sure, is to test it!

I believe if you run the Encore to the RCA input you will receive the results you are looking for. The RCA only sends 2.1 signal so it shouldn't trigger the center in theory, as long as you don't have the Oppo on.

Ah, you know... A little B&O here, a little there
