Hi I have the abovementioned turntable.  it has been in storage for many years so it has not had much use.  I have started using it again and found the left channel has no sound. Except at very high volume which is probably just cross talk. Removing the cartridge,  I  find I have continuity from all the pins on the arm to the RCA jacks both left and right. Consequently I believe the problem is the cartridge. it is about 35 years old but has hardly been used. My question is what are my options?? Can it be repaired or should I forget! The turntable runs like a clock and the sound from the right channel is really sweet. Since CD's my vinyl collection has suffered but the sound from them is so pure and unique.

So what is the consensus? I live in California.  I know there is someone in NY, and Germany and possibly Great Britain who can repair an MMC2.

Please let me know your opinions.

Welcome to Beoworld !

The MMC1-5 range of cartridges are very easy to check for lost channels;
If f.e. the left channel is missing, take off the cartridge from the tonearm, rotate it 180deg (upside down)
and mount it again.
Start playing and catch the tonearm (carefully), listen while you touch the stylus with f.e. a stylus cleaning brush,
if the right channel is now missing, the cartridge is at fault.
If the left channel is still missing, something else is amiss.
