Hello,
I would like to take benefit of the timer function recently installed on my Beomaster 3500.
Unfortunately, the Beolink 1000 I have in hands now do not allow it.
The Beolink 5000 will do.
Thank you for your feedback
Alain
Besides the Beolink 5000 and 7000, is the Beo 4 replacing these two and providing the same functionalities including the control of the Beomaster 3500/4500?
Advise is welcome
So your BM3500 got a 4500 upgrade?
As far as I remember BM3500 had no timer function and no two way communication...(?)
You can use a BL5000 in two way or one way mode, but for timer programming you need two way mode.
I have some BL5000s left, so I could sell you one....
Send me a pm if you are interested.
Stefan
...and to answer your question:
Traverso: Besides the Beolink 5000 and 7000, is the Beo 4 replacing these two and providing the same functionalities including the control of the Beomaster 3500/4500? Advise is welcome Alain
Yes BL5000/7000 were replaced by Beo4, but it`s only one way, and some buttons are different (no GOTO button, colour buttons...)
But it`s possible to control your BM3500/4500 by Beo4 - RADIO, CD, A.TAPE....Up -DOWN, LEFT - RIGHT, number buttons ...etc will work.
Hope this helps
Hi Stefan,
Thank you for your feedback.
Concerning the timer function for the BM3500, it's only a matter of sw upgrade.
Plug in the sw release 2.1 or more and it's there! When starting the BM3500 I may activate or deactivate the Timer function but cannot program neither on the front panel nor by using the Beolink1000.
Now I believe the two way function is given by sw the hw being the same for BM3500 and 4500. Nobody could tell me a different story.
I will pm you
Right. For Timer function you will need sw 2.X. This will also make your BM two way compatible.
But your BM3500 also needs a receiving IR eye AND transmitting eyes.
I`M not sure, if they are preinstalled in your 3500.
So, maybe it makes sense to check that first....or anybody else knows about that..(?)
I have an early 4500 without the transmit IR eye so I'd be darned surprised if the more basic 3500 has one.
You are right this is still to be checked
Also, if someone knows how to make the hw upgrade to a two ways ir, I would be very grateful
BM3500 has the same hardware as BM4500 except for some of the early versions (And I think some of them have a different glass panel as well for better IR range when hung on the wall) - I've done the SW upgrade myself and there is some info on the archived forum about it as well.

Dear Alain,
I have a beo 4 and a Beolink 7000. If you want I can come to see you next week and make some tests ;). Sorry this week and weekend, I am very busy !
See you,
Jacques
Yes of course! Do not worry I am not in a hurry.
It will allow to know once for all without any ambiguity
Thank you for your offer
Please let me know when this is feasible
So two words about the Beomaster 3500 and timer function.
It works!!!
Providing the BM 3500 is loaded with the SW 2.2 the one I used, timer function activated, the BM 3500 is two ways, and therefore you may, should you wish to do so, program your 3500 as if you had a 4500.
Complete test just done when using a Beeolink 7000.
Thank you Leslie and Jacques
Cheers
Done some test with BE 04 regarding the timer programming function.
Although BE 04 can control the BM 3500, I was unable to program the timer function as with the 7000.
Cannot find any relevant info in the user guide for this. Does someone knows?

TIMER RECORD, TIMER PLAY, PLAY NEXT, SET CLOCK functions only work in two way mode via BL5000/7000 on two-way-systems like 4500, 6500, 7000, 9500 and BC2500, early BC2300 and of course specially modified 3500...
At that time there only was BL1000 (one way) and BL5000 and BL7000 (two way, reprogrammable to one way).
Most functions like source selection, number buttons, up/down, left/right, play/stop, stdby... work in one way mode, but all programming has to be done via two-way-communication.
