As well as running far too much B&O, I also collect and use fountain pens - mainly because they make my awful writing a little better. I have however just been credited with influencing the design of a pen - just bought one as seemed churlish not to - but thought I would share it with you! Not quite what I had suggested but definitely the same ball park!

Just so you know, I collect both new and old pens, many of which are the Onoto brand. Many companies could learn from this relaunched version of the company, which simply has the best customer service of any firm i have ever had dealings with. Wonderful pens as well, obviously!
Very nice!
I really like using fountain pens, but find that they often have two main disadvantages. Too many modern pens have tiny reservoirs and are clearly designed to be 'Signature Pens'. Secondly, no matter what the type of reservoir might be, in my case ink finishes up everywhere after filling.
One of the best pens I have used is the Pentel disposable pen with a split plastic nib that might to some extent mimic a quill!

'Prerequisite to becoming a doctor..
I dont collect fountain pens, but I learned to write with them, started out with a wooden shaft with interchangeable steel feathers, had to dip these in an ink bottle, if dipping too much they made a mess, if too little it didnt last. Later on I got a sophisticated Pelican fountain pen with changeable cartridges. As I am left handed I had to change my hand position, not to drag my hand into the newly written.
Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.
//Bo.A long list...
BO:Off topic: I'm also left handed. I wonder if there is an increased percentage of left handed people among those collectng B&O stuff?
As all members of Beoworld are above 140 in IQ, most of them must be lefties
Some researchers claim that we are more intelligent and eloquent that our right-handed counterparts. In tests conducted by Dr. Alan Searleman from St Lawrence University in New York, he found that left-handers can be considerably more intellectually gifted.
There were more left-handed people with IQs over 140 than right-handed people - which is the "genius" bracket. This is perhaps why there are more "lefties" in creative professions - such as music, art and writing - and more left-handed astronauts and leaders than would be expected.

Congrats on your achievement in the world of the illerati
Waverly and Stephensons was time well spent.
One of the reasons my writing is so bad is that I was changed from being left handed to right handed. Or at least that is my excuse!

Moderator needed asap, this thread has a very leftish tendency.

I should have known!

Exactly what happend to me, but I returned to write with left hand. The result is a terrible handwriting with both hands!

Why do you expect us leftists to do something about it?
I'm an schitzo oddity actually, I write with the left hand, but do everything else right-handedly. And I can't even read my own writing.

You are not alone!
I am naturally left handed but write with my right hand. This is due to right-handed writing being forced on me when quite young.
I still play cricket left handed - I always fancied myself as David Gower - reality was that I was useless!
Off topic - but still related!
I am glad that a Beo4 can be used with either hand

There is a tv - and there is a BV
Funny how the company doesn't mention offering left-handed nibs!
Ban boring signatures!
Ah fountain pens... I use a Waterman (black ink) and a Sheaffer (red ink) every day. I too learnt how to write with a pen holder in the late sixties!
I always look at pen shop windows with envy, nay, greed!
I think there's a reason for which ALL doctors I've dealt with have a hand-writing that only chemists will decipher. But what is it?
That one has always puzzled me.

They do custom nibs - as indeed mine will be! I always get a stub!

Because we have to write too quickly!

Not all the time. Link.
Luckily all our scripts are computer generated these days. You are quite correct that this used to be quite an issue. One reason I use the fountain pen as it slows me down.
Can you still buy blotting paper????
I think I was a nipper that last time I saw/used any!
Oh, and btw - the last time I spent £396 on a writing implement it was a laptop!!
Puncher: Can you still buy blotting paper???? I think I was a nipper that last time I saw/used any!
What about pounce? (Last known to anyone who worked in a drawing office and used by tracers to dry off the ink on linen drawings)

We've used "bounce" in the tumbledryer, is it related?
This is probably the best fountain pen ever made at any price (about £2.50)
Although it is extraordinarily low in cost, it is still not often seen, and has all the writing qualities of a quill.
Looks good!
